Just letting you guys know that I may not be here for a couple of days, so don't think I'm ignoring you if I don't answer PMs and such :p. It looks like we're going to be getting a little bit of Rita. I'm from Nacogdoches, Texas which is pretty far inland, but everyone here is panicking due to the whole Katrina thing and stocking up on water and such. I don't think it's going to be that bad at all. My house is on a hill and whatnot, so we're definitely not going to flood, but we'll probably lose electricity for a day or two. All I did to prepare was do water changes today (like Thursday isn't my regular water change day in the first place, lol,) and tomorrow I'm going to buy a battery powered air pump just to make sure Aristotle and Marie will be ok if we lose power for more than a day

who are aristotle and marie? I don't see them in your sig...

about 20 of my relatives left houston yesterday morning at 3am... hope all goes well for you!

I hope you and your family stay safe. :)

JoLtNbolt - Aristotle and Marie aren't bettas, they're Synirrs' Oscar (Aristotle) and blood-parrot hybrid (Marie). I can't remember what Marie is exactly, but they're both cuties. :)

Like SPLiSH said, Aristotle is my oscar and Marie is a blood parrot-midas hybrid

I was wondering if you and/or Wuv, were going to have to evac. I live on Long island, and have been wondering, what if? I can take my 3 dogs, and 3 cats with me, but what about all my fish. :-( I have come to the conclusion, that I would have to leave them, and hope for the best. :byebye:

Good Luck, hope you, and your family stay safe. We will all be worrying, so please let us know you are ok, as soon as you can after the storm.

Good luck to you, I hope things are not as bad. It looks like the storm is weakening, so hopefully that trend will continue. My family went through the FL versions of both Katrina and Rita, so they've seen their share of storms. Illinois's getting the remnants of Rita on Monday. Are prayers are with you guys in TX.

Good luck to you...

The storm's heading in my direction, too. We're making preparations now. Tonight is supposed to be pretty rough, but tomorrow is supposed to be the worst of it. We've got trees all around our house, and I'm afraid of them falling onto the house, but my fiance is insisting that we stay home, because he's in the army and he's on call and doesn't want to be away from the phone (which he doesn't seem to understand will go out with the storm anyway. UGH! Men! haha) Sorry, had to rant there...

Anyway, I hope everyone that's affected will be ok!

Well, the storm is starting to roll in. It's getting really windy, but no rain yet. I couldn't get the air pump because the pet shop closed today, but it should be alright because we have a generator and will have power at least some of the time. Still won't have internet though, because I have a satellite connection and it goes out during bad weather. People are really going crazy here... each gas station has like 15 cars waiting in line for gas
I've seen 5 ambulances in the past two days, so it seems like people are going to manage to kill themselves off before the storm ever even hits . Ah, the joys of mass hysteria.
