Hi there,

I am have inherited this pleco and am in the process of cycling a new (bigger!) tank for him.

I would like to know, what sort he is?

Many thanks!

That's a common pleco, I'm quite sure. They get up to almost 2ft! How big is the tank?

So it's definitely a Gibbi?

I thought it might be that or a common, I wasn't sure. I know they need a lot of space. He's coming from a 68 litre tank! I can't believe he was sold to go into that without warning.

The new tank is 260 litres (4 ft) so it is an improvement and should tide him over for a bit.

ahhh boll***s, i have the same catfish! he's growing quite nicely. He's lovely to watch swimming around the tank with all his fins open. I was planning to re-home him at some point but i may have to re-home him sooner now..

(i also inherited mine)

It makes me sick that these are sold by Pets at Home with very little warning, particularly when bristlenoses are just as cheap and easy to come by these days. I ahev seen them in many peopel's tanks and just bitten my lip...poor sods.

Yup! my neighbour had two, both in a fluval edge!!! i took one off of her and she took one back to the shop after they both got a bit too big

i couldnt believe they even sold her a pleco for that tank, let alone 2

Two common plecs in an Edge!

I saw someone with four goldies in a chi and I thought that was a recipe for disaster...
