identify this plec

Can anyone give me the correct scientific and common name for this ouk. How long till it reaches maturity? It's in a 62 UKgallon (75 USgallon) tank.

I looked through a huge list of plec thumbnails , but some look very similar so I'm not sure.

What exactly is "common" plec? What is the scientific name?

I think its a sailfin but could posibly be a common because their markings are so similar, here's some links with loads of pics and info on the 2;

They are very similar in their requirements- they are both nocturnal so will need somwhere dark to sleep like a cave during the day and need their diet substituted with algae wafers/tablets; on the other hand though, sailfins grow to 18inchs+ while common plecs 12inchs.

Common Pleco - Pterygoplichthys pardalis

They get to about 12" and given the correct conditions should reach this size in 12-18 months

Definately a common (Pterygoplichthys pardalis). The planet catfish link will give you all you need to know. A Sailfin Plec has a much bigger dorsal fin (hence the name).
