After my post last week about my Angelfish (Smudge) developing spots, and thanks to your help we worked out it must be white spot. I've started treatment of it, the guy in the lfs advised me to do treatment one day and 10% water change the following day, and carry on until the spots disapeer, and for a further 4 treatments after this.

I was just wondering how long should it take before it kills the parasite? I've done 3 treatments including theone I did tonight. The fish only had about 2 or 3 spots, but has now developed more, about 10 - 15 spots now, still only along his top fin. I thought this might be normal as I think we must of caught the disease in its very early stages, and so perhaps all the spots hadn't developed then.

I'm just worried hes getting worse instead of better!

On top of this hes now got a small bite mark on the side of his face where he picked on another Angelfish the other night and obv came off worse. They've never fought before, I thought maybe he started on the fish as he was a bit stressed with the white spot?

I've looked at the wound and can't see and fungus on it at the moment, should I get something to try it with to help it heal? Will it get better on its own? Also what can I use at the same time as treating white spot?

Is it normal for just one fish to be affected by white spot? As all the others are spot free!

No leave the wound the whitespot treatment should help with it.
Follow the instructions on the med.
Don't stop the med if they still have spot on them.
Have you raised temp and increased aeration in the tank.

Yes we've raised the temp, which is currently ideling at about 28 degrees. We removed the carbon sponge, the tank has an air bubble pump in there, so air should be fine, and none of the fish are gasping for air or look distressed, so I assume thats ok.

I will continue treatment until spots are gone, but I just wondered if there was an average length of time that it takes before they go?

His face wound looks better today, starting to heal now.

Turn temp up to 30.
Every tank different i'm afraid, just have to be patient, good luck.

Ok thanks, just worried the treatment not working, but wasn't sure how long I should give it! I'll keep treating, hopefully we'll see an improvement soon!
Thanks

What is the med called and are you using the full dose.
