Ian's 80Cm (Hc Gone, Moss Added)

I'm really thinking not to put the Rams back in now. I'm not sure i can trust them around a HC carpet at the moment. It's a friends LFS, so they are in the display tank at present. So they are happy.

The Rams should be ok around the HC the only issue i see you may have is feeding. If you feed sinking pellets they will dig around apart from that rams don't tend to be rough on them.

Those fish are beautiful - nice to see something different :good:

Just wondering, how long do you keep up the daily 50% water changes? That's a lot of work!

Were you friends before?

No, over the last few years we have become friends as i'm his main source of income! lol

Just the pencils then or are you thinking of adding something else too?

I really don't know, i'll be taking my time with this one, rather thank just jumping in.

I love the looks of lily pipes, however, i'm not a big fan on the way they put the flow out around the tank. I was having a look at the different glasswear ADA do, obviously i'm not going to pay the prices of ADA glasswear, buy they do do lily pipes that add different flow options. These may be added when things settle in the tank...

My Ram eats my HC. He doesn't touch any other plant in the tank.

I spent a lot of money on the HC, and i have had Bolivians that have ripped HC up in the past. As i say they are happy where they are.

Great tank.Very nice and clean. everything planned to the smallest detail.
Those new fish you added never seen those before. They look great.
I wish my tank looked that good.

I like the effect you got after you introduced the back light. To me your scape with that back light reminds of a beatiful scape with the sun coming up in the horizon.
Or maybe its just me what do i know.

But great tank, one day i hope to be that good.

This is going to be a very interesting scape to watch develop. Not least because it's such a radical change from your last tank and great to see you using a relatively small tank too.

I can see you're using the bazooka style atomiser in this set-up. Are there any advantages to using that as opposed to the inline model, apart from I assume less flow reduction from the pump? Are there any real differences between the large and small bazookas apart from the small size difference?

I've just (at last) got my first pressurised set, and although I'll start it with the external reactor the seller so kindly added to the bundle, I really like the look of the bazooka. It's small enough that I could easily hide it behind something.

wow thanks Aquamaniac, thats a nice compliment...

you tank will be, it looks good already (that reminds me, i will move your thread into this journal section.)

Thanks Fleeing, the problem with the in tank bazooka is that it's ugly, the C02 diffusion in my experience is second to none. It's a mist of bubbles which flow a lot better around the tank than the glass diffuser with produces bigger bubbles. From what i have read and observed on other tanks, the Up inline's don't slow flow that much. The reason i don't use the inline is because i don't have enough room as i have an inline heater on the outtake pipe. You will have to make sure that you have 2 bar of pressure to make these atomisers work properly.

tank matches the room decor.......impressive.

^^for me, this is the biggest secret in aquascaping... to make a woman happy.

I like the scape, very stylish and clean. I'm a fan of the pencils too I had a small shoal of these, colours look great when they're happy especially if you have a pair of males to flare up against each other - dark bodies + bright red lines = stunning little fish. Spent a lot of time grinding up flake for their tiny mouths though!

Thanks Kyleb, they are really colouring up now. The females show some really nice colours as well. They are sometimes neon blue and sometimes really gold.

I have just got a couple of pots of a reletivly new plant on the market, Ranunculus inundatus it arrived this morning, i have planted it across the back and it does add something a little different. It's a quirky little plant isn't it!
My HC is melting as well, it is starting to get it's new leaves though, so alls good. The stems are also melting, i'm going to try and stick with em after some advice from Mark Evan (Saintly). I have also added some cherry shrimp...
