Do you think keeping betta in a small jar uder a gallon is mean. I thn it is they never look happy in there. I prefer to keep mine in a 5 gallon tank.

i think it is mean..so i just dont keep any at all...but i have read they do better in a smaller tank such as a one gallon...also they dont get spooked and stressed as m uch by others...

but ya i think its awful and i hate walking into a fish store and seeing 50 of them up there..it makes me sad but i cant really do anything

I've got a young female betta in a half gallon tank, but I think 1-2 gallon tanks are a good size for a betta.

I've kept a male betta in my large community tank with no problems. I don't like seeing them in tiny little tanks and much prefer to see them living a leisurely life in a larger tank.

I keep my betta in a 8gal...alone...aggressive guy.
He is in my 10gal in a large floating fry tank because there is something wrong with the 8gal. I posted for help in the Betta and Gourami section though...hope someone helps.
Anyway it's a good idea to keep a betta in a 5gal tank too ^__^
Much better than than a small jar.
