I'm really impressed with stores lately - they've been getting in some REALLY pretty females lately.

Last night at WM they had several - 2 light yellow ones and one whose body was white and fins were burgundy. They were so tiny & adorable

Raech - do you think that fish flared at you because you just woke up and were scary looking? LOL

Lol Yea, I did look pretty scary when I woke up. My hair was going everywhere and my eyes were still half-shut. Then I peered into the corner of my tank and she shot out of the plant and flared at me. She is the fattest female in the tank and so adorable. I want to call her Spaghetti, because her body is white with red fins but she has like red dot markings on her face and it looks like little meatballs or spaghetti sauce. I need to vacuum the sand today. Someone is being a little poop machine and I think it is the loaches.

If I ever saw a yellow female I would buy all of them! Yellow is my favorite color and I have yet to see a yellow female or male at any of my LFS. My LFS usually don't sell female bettas for some reason. The only one that does, the one I got Princess Pea from, sell them very tiny and thin.

My friend at work wants me to name him Frank so I can put stickers on the front that spell out "FRANK'S TANK".
But...I've decided on Charlie

Raech - these little girlies are SOOOOO adorable. I just fell in love with them. They'd look fabulous on your betta christmas tree. They were so cute and puffy. Fat little bellies. oooh, they were cute.

I have a feeling that my next tank will be a female community tank full o' betta girlies.

Nobody around here used to sell girls either, but recently they've started showing up with every shipment. It's great!!

I will look for some more females at the LFS when I go tomorrow. All of mine have huge bellies as well. Wuvmybetta wasn't kidding when she said they eat like pigs.

I am happy to say Angus is eating more and even eating from a rounded toothpick. But I haven't added melafix or salt to his water in 2 days. Could he be reacting to the melafix in a bad way and it was making him act lathargic and not eating?

Yep, he very possibly could.
I'm so very happy that he's eating and stuff, though.
Is he still in his little bowl? Can you do a 100% water change and get it out of his tank?

i know that you are supposed to use a lower dosage of melafix with bettas....

You are? I didn't know that. Poor little guy probably hated it with all the melafix I added (proper dosage on bottle).

I did do a 100% water change yesterday and let his gravel soak in warm water for awhile and scrubbed everything really good with a toothbrush. So there are no meds in his bowl since yesterday and he has been swimming around, eating, and very curious about his surroundings. I did a 50% water change on the divided 10 gallon where Princess Pea my tiny female betta is and he kept seeing the bubbles being created by me pouring the water in and he kept trying to get them from his bowl. His bowl is right behind the 10 gallon so he can see his new house when he gets better. I find him staring at it, since it has his little cave in it. I am sure he will be happy to be back home once he gets better.

I never knew you're supposed to back off on the MelaFix for bettas, either.
I know I am going to be doing some major water changes this evening at my house!

OH... and regarding Floor Boy -

Do you know when shipments come in? What time I mean? They were all BEAUTIFUL at PW this AM...I wanted to bring like half a dozen of them home!

I do believe at some point I will be adding yet another new tank...although I just bought my first one today!

You're terrible. Thank Amos....keeping in touch with his illness, THAT is what made me want one! It's all your fault...

I believe I'm going silk plant shopping tomorrow morning, probably going to PW.

I am getting floor boy. YAY!
With a story like that I can't pass him up.
He'll be the mascot for my whole team of sickos who have suffered through some sort of problematic period in their lives.
I'm so very excited.

I can't get a crowntail now, though, because if I do - I have nowhere to put him. I can NOT bring another one home. I could get another one for work, but you saw my desk already. lol
And, I have floor boy on the way.
I can NOT believe that I never heard floor boy's story til today.
It's completely amazing and very inspiring.
I can't wait to get him. I'm going to have her ship him here as soon as it warms up. I'm a little nervous about the shipping, but I really want him.

I feel like I"ve started an addiction for myself and others.
And I"m sorry, but if I"m gonna get sucked in, so are all of YOU!!


I don't know for sure what time shipments come in but I definitely wanna check them out. I'll check my email from work at some point this weekend, but I'd love to go check them out on Tuesday!!
