Hi peoples,

My uni has this DISGUSTING tank, about 10-12gallons I reckon - sitting in the cafeteria. There r these 2 tiny little fish in there that I can't identify, maybe common guppies out of a stream or something, not real sure. + it has a small apple snail (frankly, I'm surprised anything's still alive in there lol). Anyways, so I asked who took care of it, & apparently now it's no-one. So off to Student Guild I went & now I have the right to do a major cleanout of it, restock & generally own it so long as it stays there!! & the best bit is they'll cover my expenses (well to a certain extent) WOOHOO!!! lol.

So - what should I get?? They've said they'll pay me enough to cover a couple of goldfish but I'm not big on them, so I'm just gonna pay the difference - heck I got a free tank out of it! lol I was thinking a couple of male guppies (I don't want squillions of fry) and something a bit bigger, & pretty but cheapish/easy to get, preferably a bottom dweller, but not a cory or plec. I love cichlids, but I'm not sure if there are any that can live in this size tank happily as just one, esp. with the guppies. Otherwise, any other suggestions?

Also, I am only at the uni monday, tuesday & thursday, so will it matter if they get fed so erratically? Or should I try to recruit the cafeteria lady to feed them.....& hope that she doesn't overfeed or anything?

Anyways, thanx all!!

*bump*......I'm pretty new to this, really need help before I go in tomorrow if anybody has any ideas - thanx :)

Thanx Drobbins, but I think a firemouth might get too big, seeing as this is only 12 or so gallons. They're sooooo pretty though!! lol. I was thinking a betta & 3 cories for one that I'm getting for home soon, so I don't know about having the same there too, mostly in case anything happens to them. I'm just after some really hardy pretty guys, preferably one that will go with a couple of male guppies (unless u think this is a bad idea).

I guess I'm thinking of transferring either my black skirt tetra into it + getting him 2 others to hang with, & 2 guppies (overstocked??), & putting a cichlid in my 15gal here with my psychopathic colombian tetra. Or I could put my colombian in the uni one but then I don't think anything else would like to be in there..........
