I Dont Think He Will Survive :(

I~ always think my hermits are dead, then find lil legs everywhere, so yeah.. mine just sit still for a day or two when molting!

Sorry you lost your clown, as everyone else has sais, certainly doesn't sound like its your fault, and I would expect the LFS to give you another, or give you your money back, especially if there are other customers there when you go in! ;)

Kick him in the nuts and tell him you want your money back.....

Or you come do it for me :) Where have you been MR!!!

Heavenly - Thanks for that, so there shouldn't be anything wrong with the hermit staying still! Phew!

Lewis - I will get one but not from them! Will order it online lol. Will do that at lunch if I remember. Nitrite worth getting too?

You obviously had a bad clown weez, it ain't your fault so don't get down over it. These things happen. If your water stats are fine then simply take a sample to the lfs so they can confirm it and tell them you want it replaced. To be fair tho if the guy said they're in qt I personally would've waited a week or two and then watched the clowns closeup before I purchased.

But one question tho. Why did you buy a fish with a lump on it. IMO that's a sure sign it's got some sort of infection which 9 times out of 10 usually end up being fatal.

Take this as a learning curve weez, I can guarantee you it won't be the last time it happens I'm afraid. As long as your stats are fine then it can only be a bad fish IMO.

exactly, don't make the same mistake again, especially not with someone as easy to find as clown fish

Simple answer woody - im an idiot

Don't put yourself down. You're not an idiot, just impulsive. Remember, in this aspect of the hobby especially.

"Beauty comes slowly, disaster comes quickly."

Hahaha, besides the idle chitchat  , why do you think most of us, including you, I'm sure, have like 7 pages of journal before we even put LR in the tank? Because we take our time to plan these systems carefully. Once the tank is setup, IMO, the pace should be just as slow. Every decision carefully thought out. For me, I do things slow, because it boils down to money. I do not like the prospect of nuking $400 worth of livestock, so I'll do everything in my power to prevent that from happening, even if it means I get this tank going at a much slower pace. This is very different from my planted tanks where I can have a densly planted, stocked tank in about an hour with no livestock loss and the system can run indefinitely. This Marine system is a very different animal.

Learn from this, but don't get discouraged.

Liz

Weez,

Firstly sorry to hear of the loss.

As every one above has said, it was a mistake, and now you feel bad about that mistake, thats how we learn.

as someone much cleverer than I said. "To Err is to be human"

Hopefully the LFS is a reasonable sort, and will sort you out.

//Steve.

Replied on Journal too.
But Liz, its true about planning. I have taken ages planning this tank. I most likely did rush, it was part my mum saying why are we running this with no fish and giving me grief and part my test coming up ok and the brown stuff cleared etc. I really should have waited but I ended up talking myself into it. You don't understand how annoyed at myself I am. I can't afford to buy another at the moment, and don't want to right now, it just makes me not want fish, they are so much more expensive than the fresh fish I have.

Im also worried of people thinking Im useless, and done everything wrong, which I have, but that people look down on me for it

Thanks Steve only saw your comment once I finished typing!

Now you know to wait, and you've learned from your mistake. Hopefully (I posted in your journal) the lfs will be reasonable. If not, its a how many pound learning experience. I don't know how much clowns cost in the UK. I'd scope out new stores, or even online sources that are reputable.

Although i have not been on the site for long, i think it would be safe to say, that no-one here seems the type to be like that.... Unless i havent met them yet....

I think I will see what they say, tbh i they don't replace him I will just go somewhere else in future but its so much harder for me to get to as would need lifts and its a 40min drive from home. No one will do it for me, I know that or definate. I just worry getting fish online.

Anyone in UK know a good reliable supplier?

Weez. If your tank stats are fine then YOU ARE ready for fish. Just don't buy loads all at once. Give your tank a chance to adjust to poo dropping livestock and you'll be fine.

It's pretty obvious you just had a bad fish and unfortunately this does happen so don't blame yourself. No one looks down at ya as were all learning something new everyday. I'm sure theres things I don't know that you do and the same goes for everyone else.

Weez, u seem to forget I just lost a whole tank of fish!!! Lol. I've learnt most from what I've done wrong, and seen others do wrong! We all mess up it's human!! And you haven't really, your LFS sold the fish when they shouldn't have.

But moving on! Yeh get an Amm, nitrate, nitrite, PH kit as essentials, the rest can be done later but you'll need a PH, and Phosphate in the near future. :) API do ph, Amm, rate, and rite kits for about £20 (they're not the best but cheap!!)

Online, I'd recommend Aquaticstoyourdoor although I have had comms issues with them recently!! But they send very very healthy stock and always seem to arrive alive!

I have nitrate, PH, KH, Mag, Calc and Phos. I will have to see what they say but his side of it is Oh I told you not to get it obviously they take that as they work with him
