I Can't Believe What Happened

I bet it was the dechlorinator/water transition, personally. It probably took so long for the dechlorinator to act on the water, that the chlorine in the water had already done damage to the fish before it was neutralized. That would also explain why your hardiest fish lived through it.

It probably was because of the temp or parameters..but do you use that bucket for anything else? or did someone else use it for anything? it could have had residual chemicals left in it that got in the water. just a thought. i try and use the same bucket for my tanks and not use them for anything else.
