Huge mistake... Im so mad at myself...

Indeed, it does....with the Python, there's a shutoff valve at the siphon end, no need to pinch the hose to restrict flow...once the flow is established, you can regulate the flow rate, or even turn it off completely, with the valve...my gravity drop for all of my tanks is 6', or so
Pinching is much quicker if I want to modulate the flow, but yeah, the valve works too.

My gravity drop is pribably around 4-6ft...

Plenty...
Great to hear! Yah, the sand almost went straight through the siphon when it got started... I was like: "AHHH" and pinched the tube

Unrelated question... But can I trim java fern roots so their not like this?.. Imma get the pics of the sink now

This and the ugly spores and split leaves is why I gave away my Java Fern! Ugh! Will be interested to hear if you can actually trim them since I gave them to my nephew and niece 😂

If you can remove the restrictor then there will be threads to attach the hose adaptor. Remember, when viewed from above turn clockwise to remove. You may need pliers to break it loose. Hold the faucet so as not to put excess torque on it when using pliers. You have separate Hot/Cold handles so it will be easy to adjust your water temp to be close to tank temp. I let the output fill up the vacuum end of the tube while dumping into the tank and then use a cooking thermometer to check to output temp. Be sure to wait a minute or two (depending on hose length) after adjusting temp at faucet before you check at the tank output.

So it does come off? Its just a pain to remove.... Hmmmm

It looks like it has a fair amount of water deposits, so if it's removable it may be a pain the first time.

You want to "swirl" the siphon above the sand, 2 or 3 inches, to vacuum...the detritus will get picked up, the sand will stay put
