Huge Huntsman Trying To Get My Fish!

Oh gOD I hate spiders so much lol, your pictures are of such quality, NICE ONE! and nice betta

Southern Cross you are too much! I can just imagine someone visiting Transylvania being freaked out by Vampires hanging upside down the closets. I see your Transylvanian counter part saying something like: "Oh the vamp? Don't mind him. Long as you're no bleeding or have a recent wound they're not a bit of trouble. Gotta watch out for thar Drac one. He's a nit nasty. Oh, and the werewolves can be a bit dicey if you get lost in the woods! GEEZE! :shout:

Jesus, those photo's gave me the creeps first time around and now this topic has come back!!!!

I hate ANY spiders, got a real phobia - sweats and shakes. The Mrs still finds it funny that I freak out so much at a 'little' thing 1cm across. I even once had to remove all the hedging down one side of the garden where the shed was and replace it with fence panels because I couldn't go near the shed with all the little (or in my eyes GIANT!) sods living there.

Spiders dont bother me much due to me knowing england havnt got big venomous spiders lol.
I dont mind the sizes as long as a big spider doesnt jump or climb on me all is fine other than that they say hello to my foot muahahaha.

dude, thats just creepy,, i could never stand to have somthing like that in my house,, i live in us and we have venemous spiders and crap but the ones i hate the most r the f ing walking turds

yes well call them walking turds, actually i think they are wolf spiders but theres the story, friend was cleaning out her horses stall and went to pitchfork the last plie of poo,, when one of the poo ''rolled '' away,, so she tryed to spear it..... not a turd a very angry spider they can jump aBOUT 2 FEET ,, THE BIGS ONES AND THEY WILL BIT!! she ended running for the barn,, unforntaully later that week one bit her horse,, the horse was wearing a cribbing strap,, cribbing = bad chewing and sucking up of wood bits, the cribbing strap goes aroung the neck so they cant suck up the air and wood chips,, only used for in stall use and as a protetion to the horse,, cribbing can damage property adn harm the animazl.. any way it bit the horse on the head ad her head swelled up like a mellon,, the vet came out and had to shoot up the animal with anti hystimane ,, scary stuff
hence walking turds

I remember when I used to live with a friend & her family way back in the day, her brother went to put on his shoes and a spider bit his toe.
He shook it out and it was a pretty large wolf spider.
I can't remember who caught it, only that we kept freaking out b/c it kept jumping lol.

ive been to aus twice now the first time i was out there i was bitten by a red back owch!!!

If it had been one of those spiders on my tank it would have got the squash, as they are venomous and considered quite dangerous! Glad you're ok!

With regards to all the other posts it sounds like everyone has a spider story!

This is slightly OT, but I had another interesting Australian visitor in my backyard not long ago. An Australian blue-tongued lizard, which are actually a part of the family of the largest group of skinks. A lot of people actually catch them and keep them as pets, although I let this fella be, despite being very docile reptiles quite often when I've picked on up before they've pooped on me,. He's popped up in the yard a few times this summer sunning himself on the concrete. I think he's living in our woodpile. He was roughly a foot, foot and a half long, and very fat! One time I fed him some ham and snapped a few pictures of him...

I know its not related to fish anymore but if anyone wants to see any pictures of the lizard let me know and I'll post them in here, bit too OT to make a new thread! :) You all seemed to get such a kick (or fright, as the case may be!) by the spider, you might enjoy the lizard as well!

eeew big spider. Putting my plans of going to the Sunday Islands on hold, probably indefinately

Heck i live in the UK, but i'm still terrified of spiders...screamed when i saw that photo of that huntman...

But my real phobia is of sharks (none of those over here either) so between the spiders and sharks i think i'll stay in my cosy lil' UK home thanks...

Nice betta btw...

if you don't mind i'd like to see the pics of the skink.

Same here. :hyper:

Just last night as I was in bed I saw a garden spider, which should be in the garden, hanging from the ceiling directly over my head. I'm afraid I practiced spider baseball with a book.

It was 6 inches from my face. -_-

I was quite pleased by the 'plat' noise it made. :look:

I went travelling to australia in 2000 for a year, one evening when coming back from one of the several pubs in Cairns, we were met by a large huntsman in the bathroom, being rather drunk just got a pint glass put it over it and took it outside. I am not sure whether I would have done this sober as it was similar size to my hand. Do not have problems with spiders though, saw a red back under a chair once.

Just have to say would love to go back to Oz, great place. Though did not get over to the west coast.

 now i know why i like living in good old blighty that would scare the living daylights out of me. I would have to move (really) if i knew that could be watching me while i sleep
