hi ,
i have a forums which has about 60 or so members but only about 2 active members
any tips how to get people interested in the forums

how did TFF come so active with lots of members

thanks

start a few of your own intresting question debate threads which keep people coming back and answering questions as quickly as possible will help keep intrest high also throw a link to it in your sig (unless its a fish forum) and try to get more members

im not sure, but surely TFFs popularity has something to with it's name, I found it through a google search, and i suppose that's what most people do, and i just searched "tropical fish forum" and it was the first thing that came up. Surely most average people do that?

also add a link on everyones website you know i can design a banner for you i can put one on my variius sites for you submitit to banner exchange sites ( you put two banners on your site and theyll put yours on 1) it all helps to get your sites rank up also make sure you supply correct information and build a nice reputation hope this helps :good:

What kind of site do you have? It would be easier to suggest things if I could see it. This is because of some simple rules:

- Make sure everything had the proper grammar, spellings and punctuation. Remember capital letters, full stops and basic writing rules.
- Keep it simple. Too mnay forums will only confuse people. The most simple forums are often the best and most popular.
- Don't have too many rules. This puts people off. Rules are necessary, but too many aren't worth it. Discussing the rules with members can help to keep the rules to something which everyone can agree with.
- Make it look good. Decent looking graphics are essential, if you want to impress people. I can help with graphic design.
- Advertise. Advertising is key. You could use buttons, which encourage people to click on them and look. Something a bit like this:
button2.jpg
- It's not the best example. But it's not bad.

its an animal forums

how many forums would you said was to many

try to limit it to as little as possible

Heh. Would you mind posting the link? As it's not a fish forum, and therefor not in competition, it should be fine to post...

EDIT: It seems the rules have changed for the worse since I was last here... :S :/ I'd like to see your forums, would you mind emailing or IMing me a link? It would be of great help to me if I could see what it looks like.

Go to sites like www.theadminzone.com (TAZ). It is a forum dedicated to forum owners, and it gives lots of good advice to new Admins who are starting out.
