Hi ,how many pairs of Rams can I put in my 4 foot tank, was thinking of a pair or trio of Bolivian and the same of blues , also could I house a pair of kribensis with these in this size tank

Thanks Ade

Can you give the exact dimensions of the tank, please, because not all 4 foot tanks have the same depth or width, and working out the volume of tank will be good.

Kribs are very easy fish to breed, they will do so without too much intervention, and when they do so, they become very very aggressive, particularly against other bottom dwelling fish, so your Rams would be very much in the firing line.

Tank is 4 foot x 2 foot x 18 inches , would they be ok if I put in plenty of caves and rocks ,missis really keen on kribs in the tank because of their colours

In general terms, I would not recommend different species of cichlid (except for the African rift lake species, but that is a very different issue).  They will spawn (if you have male/female obviously) but even aside from this the males of both ram species are not very tolerant.

Also, on the ram species, they need to select their own mate; not every male accepts every female, and vice versa.

Byron.

Personally I would only keep one pair as Rams are easy to breed (My experience) and get very territorial when breeding.
