how many fish?

can anyone help me?
I typed my tank dimentions into a fish calculator because i wanted to know how many fish i could keep in my 36" by 15" by 12" tank and got the below results:

Dimensions: 91cm L x 30cm W x 38cm H/36" L x 12" W x 15" H
Surface area: 0.28 sq m/3.00 sq ft/432 sq inches
Volume: 106 l./23 gal.
Volume after displacement: 96 l./21 gal.
System type: Tropical freshwater aquarium
Total stocking density: 42"/107cm of fish (built up gradually)
what does 42" of fish mean in earth talk?

Fish that will reach a total of 42" when they are adults.

Not only length, but width and how much the fish like to swim should be taken into consideration.

a good 10" fish would go well in that size tank

I suggest you post the fish you are thinking about getting on the board and get feedback on weatjer or not your fish would work for your tank

Further to my above post...

I don't understand why you were told 42" of fish as a 22gallon tank would been 22" of fish to me.
