How Does Ph Affect My Fish?

Sorry, one last question: if I use the water in the pond, do I still have to dechlorinate it?

My pH is at 9.0, sometimes 9.5 - It's just the pH of my water supply, but my fish are all happy and healthy and I have platies breeding like rabbits so... Never try to lower your pH with chemicals or anything. It'll do more harm than good!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

It varies depending on what rocks the water flows over between fallling as rain and coming out of your taps. Some rocks dissolve easier than others and and different rocks are made from different minerals. The type of minerals and the amount of rock that dissolves affects both pH and hardness. For instance chalky rock causes hard alkaline water (very soluble and lots of calcium)and granite usually results in soft water as it hardly dissolves at all.

Interesting info, thanks :good:

So I was just doing a quick search online for CO2 tablets... but apparently the only one I could find is this: http://www.amazon.com/Azoo-AZ17187-Co2-Plant-Tablet/dp/B006KY1LQC/ref=sr_1_1?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1345558406&sr=1-1&keywords=azoo+co2

There's only 1 review and it's not that great... the company is in Taiwan but a lot of people on ebay sell them. However I can't seem to find any other reviews on this product! Is there any other company that makes these things? Thanks.
(or is this okay, not sure how it would work though: http://www.petco.com/product/119076/Aqua-Medic-CO2-Reactor-100-for-Aquariums.aspx?CoreCat=MM_FishSupplies_CO2Systems)

--edit: nevermind, I think I found it! http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11785682
