How Does Ph Affect My Fish?

Ha ha ha, cheeky! Yes, I sold them all. They go on local Facebook groups for 50 pence each or 3 for £1.

oh and also, I think i'm going to try manually blowing co2 in the tank... but I don't have a testing kit for CO2, how would I know if there's too much co2? :c

Dont think that would work lol the bubbles need to be able to diffuse into the water whereas if you jus pick a piece of pipe up blow it into the tank it will make big bubble and come straight out the top. and i dont think you want to sit there for hours on end blowing into a piece of tubing

do you have a water butt in your garden? you could try 50% water change that should lower your ph and if theres any larvae in there your fish will love them :good:

hahaha okay, no I don't have one.. I don't think it's very common in the US. I suppose I'll just get co2 tablets. OR do you think I could use water from my pond? Fish live in there too :p (but there's a lot of algae, do you think if I use that water I'll have algae growing in my tank? D:)

Thanks for all your input :)

there would be a high risk of you introducing algae into your tank but the water should be ok :good:

I'll check out the pH of the water out there, I'll probably just use a little bit for my next water change to see how much my pH changes. Thanks a bunch, you've helped me a lot! :)

My ph is 8.2 and I had lots of platy fry. I ended up giving lots to my lfs and keeping two so now I have four females. It is exciting but Salam is right, they breed so often the novelty does wear off.

Really? I've had them for a little more than 2 months (maybe 3? I can't remember..) and they haven't gotten pregnant. I want to watch the fry grow up at least once
