How Do You Keep A Crystal Clear Tank?

Ah, I just noticed it was a 10 gallon tank. The UV steralizer would probably be going overboard unless you plan to upgrade to a much larger tank. My 30 is about the minimum I would bother with it. Esp since my Turbo Twist is the smallest and rated for up to 125 gallon tanks. :hey: But you can take a look at them. I got mine here: shop

Best of luck,
Walker

The only crystal clear waters I have seen in the wild were dead and devoid of fish life. So I've decided to concentrate on the health of my fish and accept a slightly more lived-in look. After all, the lethal bits are not the ones that show.

I've only been doing water changes once every two weeks on the tanks are over 2.5 gallons lately... my water is still cystal clear except in the tanks that have bogwood (tea-coloured in those, lovely). What is your substrate? I know my sand tanks are cloudy when I first set them up or stir the sand, but otherwise 30-40% changes once every two weeks keep everything in check.

I take care of a large tank and put a little bag of these diamond crystal things into the Whisper filter in back of the bag. I did this as a backup to catch ammonia in case they had a spike again but it also made the water crystal clear as a byproduct. I'm hoping it does the same for my goldfish tank eventually. The plastic jars of the diamond crystals costs about $8.50 or so and then you can buy these little mesh bags with a pull cinch at the top for about $4 or so.
