I just got 17 guppy fry, and i have a 10 gallon with 2 male guppies and 7 females. I decided to leave the fry in the same tank and i wont be putting them in a separate tank or in a fry cage. I want them to survive on their own. But the problem is, they don't get any food. I sprinkle powdered pellets, but they just float until they get eaten by the adults. The fry are to scared to come up, even when i have floating plants for cover. I try dipping my hand in with powder, but when i leave the powder, it just floats back up. Help!

I wouldn't worry. The amount of food a guppy fry needs is almost microscopic and if you have live plants, they will get enough food just from picking at algae/microorganisms on them :)

But i'm kinda worried. They might not be getting all the nutrients required just from the algae. But thanks for the info, though.

You can crush some flake food put it in an egg cup with a little of your tank water and drop it in - it will sink straight away and be small enough to be missed by the other fish. Failing that you can buy liquid fry food from your fish shop or online.

Always handy to have a moss ball or 2 if you have regular batches of fry - they contain millions of Infusoria which are tiny microscopic creatures fry feed on - again you can get them in the shop or online cheaply.

Any more ideas? They seem to be living okay, but some have died.
