Hotter Weather = Hotter Tank.

If it gets really hot I have a fan on a long pole type stand which I extend to the fullest length and aim over the top of the tank :good:

with summer here the general air temp gets warmer so hence does the tanks, our room where my 55gal tank is, gets really hot sometimes high 30's C how do i keep the tank cool apart from water changes everyday!!

Turn up your a/c :)

I run my aquarium at 25.5c and with the hotter weather it's risen to 26.5., but i'm using LED lighting so that helps.

Dean.

A/C? In the UK? Hmmm... But a pipe dream my friend!
Can't get air conditioners in the UK? Here we can, but my mother is scared of them ever since my godmother died of some odd disease that basically destroyed her lungs within a month. Mom thinks it was the air conditioner my godmother kept running.

Certainly possible, I never run A/c in hotels, the vents are breeding grounds for bacteria, then when you turn it on you're breathing in a load of #106###.

They didn't even know what my godmother had, all they said was that she suddenly started having bleeding inside her lungs, but no tumors were present. It all happened so fast, and she only thought she had a cold. When my mom received a call from my godmother's daughter, she was like "She died from a cold?!"

The only cooling system I have here is something that works with ice water and blows wind. While it can cause quite a chill, it sometimes gets defeated when the heat is up at 45C. You can cook eggs in a frying pan with some oil if you go outside during those times.
Luckily, the temp's cool right now, still spring and lots of rain.

 No A/c? How the heck do you live? Whats the average summer temps there? OMG. I want to move to the UK eventually, but no a/c... seriously?

You can get air conditioning in the UK. The first post wasn't serious, it was a joke...
But as previous posts have said, they are breeding grounds for bacteria and i wouldn't use one even if i lived somewhere warm.
Air conditioning isn't needed here. A fan does the same job but is cheaper to buy and run...
The average temp here in summer is 15 degrees ish, however at the mo we're having a freakishly high temp for here at about 26 degrees.

Sometimes I have to deal with 35C in the house when the chiller won't chill my room... How do I live? Idk, all I know is that I take really hot baths that my mom says that it's not normal to sit in. o_O So I'm kind of used to high heat, but I dislike the cold. It totally causes me to enter a state of lethargy.

But when the heat exceeds 35C, my heart's having some trouble. -_-

OHHHH. well geez. 26 C is only 78 degrees. A fan would do it. We have 42 degree -108 F through most of July and August. I didn't realize that people live in places where your shoes don't melt if you go outside.

Try just sitting in front of a fan with the sun baking your house live the inside of an oven.

I'm a portuguese living in the UK at the moment. And i can easily tell at home you don't need an A/C in the UK you hardly have a summer, and when you have really hot weather it lasts for five or six days a year.
My tank here in the UK no matter what still needs its heater working during the summer. On the other hand in the winter is really hard to keep the tank going with just one heater.
In portugal were i had my previous tanks, during the summer you definitely keep your heater unplugged, it does not go on, but why keep it on when its safer to unplug it.
The water temperature can go easily 32 or 33 degrees. Which far above the normal 25/26.
In august when the temperatures can reach above 43 degrees outside keeping the tank cold is a very hard task, there are A/c's in the market but most people don't have them since they're expensive and in portugal money is hard to come by.
So to keep our tanks cool we use one sometimes two bottles with iced water, computer fans in our lighting systems to help decrease the heat of the lights, fans pointed at the water surface. Some use chillers but is quite rare since they are expensive.
Basically we use what we have at hand to keep the tank temperature down and still it's not that efective.

I'm not an expert but I think most fish will cope with the range of temps unless it gets really high. It takes the tank a good while to reach the room temps. In the wild fish experience these changes. I think you may be worrying too much. We really don't experience European temps very often - SADLY!!
