HI!!

Been messing around with freshwater tanks most my life, I have a 29gal going now, but with plans on getting a LARGE tank soon (+100gal)

I'm an avid fisherman, and outdoorsman. Love what I've been reading on here and when I make the step up I'll bring you all along for the ride with a journal.

Heres a peak at my 29 and its critters:

I like natural looking tanks with live plants.

My old man, he's been the king of the tank for 7 years now.

And the new guy that brought me to this forum, found him struggling at a local pet store and brought him home. He surrvived and thrived in the hospital tank and has been successfully introduced into the main tank. May I introduce to you Mack the Clownknife.

He's at 4" now, so I figure I have about 6 months to set up the new larger tank.

Looking forward to the conversations. I'll introduce Lucy the crazy beagle/terrier hybrid and Domino the evil, but wussy cat, later.

Welcome! I'm sure you'll fit right in.

Others know better than me, but in general, I think those fish are (or will be) big for the tank, if indeed it is a 29 g. Clown loaches need a bare minimum 50 gallon tank.  Clown knifes get massive and need at least a 100 gallon tank or even much, much, much more.  The rainbows need a 50 gallon tank.  I don't know what kind of pleco that is, but he looks pretty big.  He probably needs at least 100 gallons, otherwise he'll be (or already is) stunted.  You do have a bigger tank on that way, which is awesome! I'm super jealous, I want a bigger tank.  How big is it?  I'm hoping 100 gallons+.  If so, if I were you I'd move all these fish into it, then restock this tank as a community tank.

I don't mean to lecture you, I'm sure you are fairly aware of these things now since you have a bigger tank on the way (and have been reading around on the forum).  Be sure to get the journal going!  I'll watch for it...  Also, once things are rolling, consider entering into the Tank of the Month competitions and what not.

:hi:
Love the rainbows, great names!

I agree with Elrohirthehasty about the tank sizes needed for those fish. It'll be great once you upgrade!

Yeah, I know, just can't help rescuing the needy from these shops around here, very few have any idea what they got. I get em in shape and give them to friends with much larger tanks. Thats a feathered cat, He was part of a pair I found floundering away in a cory tank at walmart, when I first set the tank up 7 years ago. My brother got his twin in his 150. The knife was very beatn up and needed some TLC and I couldn't let him die where he was at. He's been in the house for a month, and I just put him in with the others last week. I'm shopping around craiglist for a tank at least 100 gallons (hoping for a 200). I have found a few, but either beat'n up too bad or almost store prices. I run double filters and keep the circulation above normal and have had no problems keeping the levels nice and comfy.

So glad to hear you'll be upgrading! Hope you can get a good deal on a 200, looking forward to more pics of your fish, especially Mack
