Hi!

I'm from NZ, relatively new to the hobby.
I have a 10G tank with pygmy corydoras, zebra and leopard danios and as of a two days ago a dwarf/honey gourami. They're being upgraded to a planted 60L tank this weekend.
I also have another 60L with neon tetras and kuhli loaches (2 clown and a neon).
I'm going to give breeding crowntail bettas a go when my breeding stock arrives in the next week.

Cheers,
Sam

Welcome to the forum Samba.
Betta breeding can be a real trial due to the sheer number of containers required to bring the fry to maturity. You can think of each of the 300+ grow-out containers as a separate tank that must be maintained without a filter, thus requiring frequent huge percentage water changes. I bred bettas as a child and simply never went back to it. Watching the breeding process itself can be lots of fun, but once the female is removed and the male is tending the nest, the delight quickly wears off and the practical aspects of maintaining the fry you have bred come into play. At that point it becomes a lot of work unless you intend to actually raise money doing it as a business. If so, do you have an outlet for the young bettas?
