I thought I would open up a subject for debate I am not sure if it will work but considering some of the topic posts and responses I have seen over the last couple of weeks I think it valid and it cannot hurt.

I am wondering if I am the only one that has these thoughts whilst scanning this fine forum and reading some of its contents.

Okay before I post a new topic on here I usually engage brain and give it some thought, As a forum member and as long as I remain with in the rules as I understand it I am entitled to post a topic on any subject (just as long as its in the correct section) As is any other member, but I find myself concious that the content of the subject has at least some relevant content.

Its just of late I get the impression that some people are posting complete and utter dribble just for the sake of it do you find this or is it just me?

I am not talking about the usual beginners questions in this specific subject as I believe we all started once and no question is a silly question if it is asked genuinely once.

Usually my posts are asking a question mostly out of desperation and may I say this forum has not failed me for that I am truly grateful, I am occasionally struck with curiosity on a specific topic and post. Occasionally Sometimes I find my self in the position of knowing the answer to a specific post and I offer my opinion or answer and on the rare occasion I find my sarcastic side kicking in and I cannot help myself but this is rare and I do try not to be offensive in any sarcastic response. I will never compromise my beliefs and will fight my corner if needs be. If and when I am found to be incorrect (it happens) I am happy to admit it and grateful to learn from it.

One thing I do try not to do which appears to me to be quite prolific of late is people responding to questions the same as 3 or 4 other posters! Is this just to bump up there own post volume? or is it because they just cant help themselves?

I am of course aware that there are many members from many different country's in this forum and I am also aware that there is a great difference in the age of forum members and these two may make a great difference in how we see or do not see the relevance of posts, subjects, responses and behaviour, I am just interested in your views and would appreciate any constructive thoughts.

Ha ha, yeah I've noticed that as well. I don't think it's a particularly bad thing though. If you ask a question and the same answer appears three or four times then it probably confirms a correct answer. Maybe people do it to increase post count or maybe they just see a question they know the answer to and want people to know they know the answer.

The good thing about this forum is that there's a lot of members and lot of posts every day. Always something to read and the forum never seems to slow down. Other forums I visit (Man Utd forums mostly) have all sorts of database errors and downtime if too many people are on at the same time.

Also, everyone is polite and courteous on here (mostly). It's not like that on footy forums belive me.

i have also noticed this, but i too don't think it's too bad. if i ask a question and quite a few give me the same answer then i know it is probably right, but if it is only one i can't really be sure.

although it can get a bit excessive if you end up with a dozen people answering after you've got your answer.

cheers :good:

I think its actually great how there is a very diverse ammount of people who post, Thus giving great widely interesting ideas/suggestions.

I agree with multipul comments reinforcing the same information a couple of times maybe 3 or 4 but after that I feel it a llittle pointless and unnecessary.

Also I agree hugessomefish the diversity of this forum is fantastic, But what I was asking about in my post was more to do with the content of some peoples contributions. As I also attained to we have to accept that we have to expect some odd stuff from time to time.

Fortunatley the likes of spammers and inapropriate content is delt with efficently by our moderators.

I dont know maybe I am just being an old fart on this matter, but I thought I wood speak my mind.

Regards onebto.

agreed i find if i want to
post dribble i will post it in
the general section and try not to
put rubbish on the fish part of the forum
well i hope i don't post dribble
if i do i will stand corrected what does annoy
me is people who post the same question
in several sections

I will often post to agree with people if I see only one or two people have responded to a question (Don't know if that counts in what you're seeing?)

However I wont often post a full reply if someone has already answered the question. Just a +1, to hopefully give the OP more confidence in the answer given. Cause unless they're a regular on the forum then they don't have a clue who is 'reputable' so to speak.

I do agree though, people who post full posts that actually echo the exact same thing... pointless. (unless they're posted at a similar time, cause they may have been posting at the same time).
Sometimes it's people not having time to read the whole thread to see it's resolved already. And sometimes I reckon it is people just wanted to boost post count or... show off? That they know.
