Hi my discus fish has cloudy eyes and small white patches of slime on her scales. What could this be ? i have owned this discus for about six months and she has recently been breeding with my other discus. They have both been looking in tip top shape until yesterday. My female blue kobalt discus began to get a cloudy eye, she has still been fanning the eggs she has constantly. I just did a 25% water change yesterday. The PH is 6, the nitrates and nitrites are both 0, the ammonia is also 0. The discus is in my 55 gallon planted aquarium. If anyone knows what this is please comment on what you think it is and possible cures. Thankyou very much

does she still have eggs and are they close to hatching? discus produce a slimey coat to feed their young when they hatch. get some photos up so we can diagnose better. hope shes not getting any worse.

Hmmmmm 0 nitrates?! Unless it's a Really heavily planted tank , something isn't right with that reading!

The discus are in a pretty densely planted tank. Here is a video of my discus fish i realy hope it helps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIv8wTzQbUg . please keep the ideas coming

id disregard the eggs and treat with myxazin immediately to be safe. with the added stresses of parenthood its immune system may have weakened and made it ill. waterlife myxazin treats cloudy eye and external bacterial infection.

I totaly agree. I just set up my quarentine tank and am raiseing the temp to 86. I also plan to treat her with malighte green and blue.

DO NOT put the fish into the tank at 86, raise the temperature slowly in the main tank to 86 then changeover, you will kill the fish if you go from tank temp to 86!

Yes I know. I raised the tempeture very slowly. She is showing improvement and I will post a new video of her later.

all u need on q tank is a heater and airpump. Loads of water changes and no food is necessary. Good luck it seems you are doing everything.
