Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your previous help, just when I thought I had got the handle of caring for my Bettas I've got more problems! :( I have 6 Bettas now (4 veiltails and 2 crown tails); I have taken the forums advice and moved them out of their seperated containers into their own 1.25L tanks just with gravel and silk plants (to protect their tails). Two of my bettas are at work in my office, and the other four are at home. The pH is always around 7, I don't check the ammo or nitrates as I do a 25% water change every 2 days and siphon of their waste every day. I use stress coat, aquarium salts, and aerobic bacteria (only every fortnight or so to help their biological filter) when I change the water. One of my bettas got tail-rot about 2 monthes ago, I treated it with BettaFIx and salt for 2 weeks and the tail started to regrow beautifully - However a week or so after I stopped the Betta Fix I started getting white stringy material in the water ( wasn't sure if this was bacterial overgrowth from using meds and cleaning the tank killing off all the good bacteria - or if it was in fact fungus which had originally caused the tail-rot) I should tell you that at this stage they were still in a seperated tank, not in their own tanks - however the other betta showed no sign of tail-rot, and the stringy materail didn't appear to be attached to them as such. When the stringy material didn't go away after a week or so with adding aerobic bacteria, I went and got a fungus aide from the LFS (Wardleys fungusade - basically formaldehyde, acriflavin and malachite green) treated twice (3 days apart). Once they had finished their treatment I moved them into seperate tanks, and all was going perfectly the last 2 weeks, till this morning. Last night when I left work Fergus's tail was still regrowing and looked good, this morning all the new regrowth is gone, there was a tiny bit of white stringy material in the water but nothing significant, and they had a 25% water change yesterday. I have given him a full water change this morning and wondering whether I should try the fungus ade again or something different? Should I do the treatment more than a couple of times like I had done previously? Should I use Bactonex ( a bacterial and fungal preventative - methylene blue and aminacrine) when I do the water changes at work - as I don't have these problems at home, but I 'm concerned that will stuff up the biological filter? The only other thing I can think is that it is winter here in Perth and they have turned the heating up at work which could have promoted the growth of bugs maybe - I should point out that the other Betta (Percy) has not had any tail problems whatsoever, even when he was in the seperator tank.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I don't like to see him sick.

Hmm i am not to quite sure what the stringy white things actually are. If they have just appeared out of the water that is a little funny. Everytime they appear I would water change them out. It might me from the excessive meds., although I would highly dount it. Change the water 1 more time and add the misc. stuff for chlorine and what not. If there still is tailrot try the betta fix or i still use melafix with bettas and all and it is going perfect. Try a couple more days and see what happens. Although its a real stump??
