Right guys i need help!!!
My Juwel vision 450 has gone through three lighting units in two years grrrr
The water gets into the lighting unit and of course blows the tubes.Needless to say im not very happy.
Seemingly a lot of people have had this problem with this type of tank
What id like to do is build a glass shelf between the lights and the water level. There is not a lot of space however im sure it could be done.
Does anybody have any ideas where i can get pieces od glass cut to suit?
Also has anybody done this before and has it worked.
Im not paying out for anymore lighting units.
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
Years ago where i used to live there was a local glazier who would sell me glass to make my own tanks, there has to be someone somewhere still does this
Thanks

Post where you live, i.e local town so people can give a more personalized suggestion.
Generally it's a very easy task though, easiest being a similair style to a simple tank brace. I.e a block of glass stuck either end of tank, then just sit the glass shelf on top of this block.

I have a Juwel Lido 120 litre and a few years ago my own lighting unit went so perhaps there is a trend there. It's not really answering your question I'm afraid but my solution was to replace the lighting unit altogether and install two of these: Lights

They are not particulary bright but they are easy to fit, completely waterproof and so far, have lasted for four years.

I wasn't prepared to pay the eighty odd quid to replace the lighting system in my Lido that didn't last more than three years. I'm not talking tubes here, I mean the whole system packed up -- no light at all!
