theres my old external running on it at moment. Its not empty although looks it, my mates Channa Auranti is in there its about 12 inches

can;t wait for him to take that back so I can start planting and getting the tetras in there for now

What Tetra's you going for? Congo's?

James.

was thinking of rummys and cardinals to be honest. Last time I kept discus in a tank with half the volume I love the 20 odd mix of these tetras. This time I;d like a good load of tetras in there as I reckon the tank could handle it

Sounds nice. Could have huge shoals in that tank!

James.

thought I;d better update this one anyway

this pic taken before the Uarus decimated the plants!!

I went out andbought 4 littlediscus today. it was all my LFS had and they were only cheapI bought a few cardinals as well to see how the Uarus get on with them, If they are fine I plan to get about 40 or so cardinals

There are 4 clown loach on there as well that I bought off ebay at a silly low price last week
I;m happy with my tank again

Tank and fish look amazing. What happened to the rubber eel?
hes still in there, comes out at the slightest offering of a bit of prawn or something. I;m hoping that he doesn;t take the cardinals? I on;y got a few to see really?

Oh fair enough i was going to say how could you have got rid of that stunner. From what ive heard they dont normally eat other fish unless there right infront of them dead or dieing but ive never kept them so cant really say.

If I could find some decent plecs I;d go for it.I can;t believe how little l nos are out there.

last year I sold a L200, L128 and L264 really cheap and wish I hadn;t now

yay you got your discus at last mate :good: how is it working with the uaru , are the discus getting their fair share off food?

hello Mark
I couldn;t afford to get decent ones. It may be false economy but I just got these off my LFS at a reduced rate cos I;m a good customer!

so far so good. they are feeding although they on;y been in there since 4pm ish yesterday. The uarus like the bigger food so I just put some brine in and the discus eat it and the Uaru didn;t bother with it. It may work

Its a good sized tank though never kept discus in a tank as big so hopefully ther'll be plenty of space to keep them all happy

The Uarus are lovely fish though, they never seperate!!

hows yours doing

i have to say mate those uarus are lovely. good thing about having them in such a big tank is that it will be much easier to keep the water quality good. lots of food and clean water is key to growing out juvies, give em around 4 or 5 feedings a day and plenty of fresh clean water , and theyl do fine mate.

mine are doing well , i did have a problem with 1 of the leopards not eating and hiding all the time , to the point where it started to turn dark and lose weight . i thought i was going to lose it . it seemed like internal parasites at 1st but treatment made no difference. then i decided to simplify the tank , remove all the plants etc to make it easier to keep things clean , and the change was instant . now hes out and about feeding well , is back to a good weight and has turned out to be 1 of the nicest fish in the tank, so im guessing it was a water issue.

il have to see if i can arrange for my mate to bring his camera round and do some up new pics , as mine is knackered and the decent camera i had when i got the fish was borrowed , and i have since given it back .

thats the problem with discus, sometimes due to the pecking order or whatever they can be finnicky little gits and as much as we panic over feeding them they just flatly refuse or even if they take the food in, they then spit it out. glads yours turned round though! go and borrow that camera ha

i have got an old crappy camera which i may well dig out and have a try with later , but it takes cruddy pics. may try a video instead .

You not tried Pier Aquatics recently, they've got some pretty nice L-numbers in at the minute. And a gorgeus L190.

Saying that, a lot of them are pretty small.

James.
