Not read the whole thread but Smart adverts are based on what you have been searching and will only come up based on what type of thing you have searched.

I help run a forum and it used to be the same when we had the same ads on, people moaning that Thai brides have come up, arguing that they have never searched for a thai bride and then apologising when they realised they made have been looking at normal porn the other night.


So people may not have been searching for "hot slags" or "thai brides" but may have been having a cheeky look at some adult material recently


mine currently show gamepass (which I have been searching for yesterday) and fish forums (which I have been searching for all day to sell my tank)

I don't want to argue with the PC experts and all, but I'm seeing Thai brides ads (though not the slags ones, thank god) and my PC is less than a month old, has only ever been used by me (a celibate woman) and I've never looked at dating sites or anything like that

I see those ads that are not suitable for a family friendly forum too, & as a female pensioner I can assure you I have never googled for Thai brides or slags.
It's not just google who determines the ads, it's who the owners sell advertising space too as well

I disagree what if you have cleared cookies and cache then what will the ads display? will they just disappear? don't think so so i wouldn't really accuse people of their browsing habits if you dont have a clue

Precisely!! I would imagine its the adverts that pay most money that get displayed.

I have only seen protein shakes (the main one for me), cameras and DVDs up to now. Not been unlucky enough to be offered local slags

Oh and they are the same on my phone and my one week old netbook.

Oh and a new one now, Bradford college.

Donna thanks for the advice. I'm the only user and know my browsing habits and feel safe to say there's been no 'adult' material searched for or accessed.
I'm now having a chuckle because have had the 'brides' and 'russian women' ads but also had plenty of ads for retirement (savings/insurance) which would indicate together (wrongly!!!!) that I've been looking up overseas pensioner porn : ) : )
I'm 'only' 40 by the way...

I seriously doubt that anyone in my house has been looking for that. This is my personal computer that only I use (and as a woman, i really have no use for a mail order wife) and the only other person that gets on this computer is my son to play his learning games, and I doubt he has interest in mail order brides either.

You never know, he may do...
