Has Anyone Bred Otos?

Morning

I took this pic of one of the oto babies, not even 24 hours old yet, and already a huge change in appearance since yesterday. He has spots and look darker, not so clear. He seems to have grown a bit too. Not sure where the other 8 are. We put a large piece of hydra pollysperma in the net, so they are probably all stuck all over the place. Too cute.

Look at those eyes

Lovely seeing the pics - in a few months time (once you know how things evolved), you should add something about this to the oto profile :)

:- Congratulations ! :-

A rare and wonderful event for sure.
Good luck !

edit:
Can you tell us a bit more about the tank conditions? (pH, temperature, GH and KH)

Just a quick update. They have really taken after their parents, eating all the time. They dart around their net, eating everything. So cute.

What you looking at?? :S

Look at that little sucker mouth.

The water is clean, I just removed the air pipe for the pics, and with it being a small space, its got a film on top.
Thanks for looking, Carmen :D

Ahhh they are coming along so well ! How many do you think you have ?

Hi Bloo

I counted 9 eggs when we first put them in the net, but there could have been more. I was cutting leaves off with eggs and so was my hubby. But they do seem to be all over the place. On the sides of the net, on the plant, at the bottom of the net. Didn't know you could love something so small, who probably doesn't even know I exsist, just that there is some weird lights occasionally and food everywhere. Keep well, Carmen :D

Any updates and some more photos yet ? :hey:

Hi Bloo

They are all doing very well. Most are growing pretty fast, getting big. We have one or two that aren't the same size as the others, but with all fry you have that problem. Yesterday I found another oto fry in our main community tank. Our male ram saw him too, but wasn't up to challenging me for it. So I quickly sucked up the fry and put him in with the other 9. They like skimming the top of the water eating, and you can see their fat bellies  Of course, you can see the poop too  , but at least that means they are healthy.

Heres a pic of one of the tiny one's

And a close up of one of the bigger ones on a leaf, the bubbles are from our home made water flow from the filter outlet.

Hope you like them, and sorry for killing you all with tons of pics again. I'm just so proud of them, and can't help wanting to share with everyone.

Keep well, Carmen :D

Ahhhh they are awesome ! Lovley to follow this photo update. Keep it up and hope they continue to grow nice and :flex:

One more pic for a while, I promise. I just released the 5 biggest into the fry tank and they are sucking up as much algae off the leaves and glass as possible. I still have 5 in the breeding net, waiting to get a bit bigger.

Look at that full belly and poop!!
