Guppy started dying overnight…

that is pretty soft my friend
iu
I put my specific zip code and it’s showing that the hardness is 81 ppm. But my water is a lot harder than what it says.. what could that mean?

My water has always been super hard, bassicaly on every test it’s a light brown color which is super hard water. I think that’s smart to buy fish that match my water conditions, but honestly I really like bettas and have always liked them so I want to try and take care of mine, that’s why I want to lower the water hardness. I don’t know if it will make a big impact though
I use a mix of 50% tap water (I’m working with 16d of hardness) and 50% RO water that I buy from my lfs.

maybe because you have something like rocks that will release hardness? limestone? marble?
What are the other downside besides having to put things like pH up every time I do a water change.
if you add too little or too less just one time your fish will be stressed 😳

I don’t have any marble or limestone in my tank, but if your saying like the pipes where the water comes from then probably.

Ok that makes sense.. and random question do you know what type of problems can occur if your pH is too high or to low.
fish stressed, tank unbalanced in general
stability is a really important thing in keeping fish to me(i am a noob so that is probably why)

Apart from the fact that Betta fish should be kept on their own, you have nitrites in the tank and should be doing water changes to reduced them to zero.
Also, Betta fish need much softer water than guppies so aren’t compatible on for many reasons.
Yeah I did a water change yesterday. My test no longer shows nitrites

The only concern I have right now it just my pH, everything else look fine”to me”, this is the test

your gh and ph need to go lower, that is kind of too much for a betta
but for livebearers that is A ok

Forgot to mention something…. I got another betta today… a male koi betta.. I didn’t get it just someone because though. Someone in my family offered it to me cause they no longer wanted it, they had only had it for a couple weeks, and it was only in a 1 1-2 gallon. So of course I took it. But I got a divider for it. And yes, I did make sure there was no gaps my baby betta could go through and get to his side. And They can’t really see each other through it which is also good. And about the otocinclus.. today when I went to go to petco i brought him/her with me and since on the internet it said they accept fish, I asked it they would take him. And they did! He isn’t in my tank anymore but at least he’s with other oto’s. Here is what the tank looks like now.
