I put my specific zip code and it’s showing that the hardness is 81 ppm. But my water is a lot harder than what it says.. what could that mean?that is pretty soft my friend

I use a mix of 50% tap water (I’m working with 16d of hardness) and 50% RO water that I buy from my lfs.My water has always been super hard, bassicaly on every test it’s a light brown color which is super hard water. I think that’s smart to buy fish that match my water conditions, but honestly I really like bettas and have always liked them so I want to try and take care of mine, that’s why I want to lower the water hardness. I don’t know if it will make a big impact though
What are the other downside besides having to put things like pH up every time I do a water change....And you'll have to mess with the water EVERY time you add some to the tank, FOREVER.
maybe because you have something like rocks that will release hardness? limestone? marble?I put my specific zip code and it’s showing that the hardness is 81 ppm. But my water is a lot harder than what it says.. what could that mean?
if you add too little or too less just one time your fish will be stressedWhat are the other downside besides having to put things like pH up every time I do a water change.

I don’t have any marble or limestone in my tank, but if your saying like the pipes where the water comes from then probably.
Ok that makes sense.. and random question do you know what type of problems can occur if your pH is too high or to low.if you add too little or too less just one time your fish will be stressed
fish stressed, tank unbalanced in generalOk that makes sense.. and random question do you know what type of problems can occur if your pH is too high or to low.
Yeah I did a water change yesterday. My test no longer shows nitritesApart from the fact that Betta fish should be kept on their own, you have nitrites in the tank and should be doing water changes to reduced them to zero.
Also, Betta fish need much softer water than guppies so aren’t compatible on for many reasons.
The only concern I have right now it just my pH, everything else look fine”to me”, this is the testfish stressed, tank unbalanced in general
stability is a really important thing in keeping fish to me(i am a noob so that is probably why)
your gh and ph need to go lower, that is kind of too much for a bettaThe only concern I have right now it just my pH, everything else look fine”to me”, this is the test
What should I buy for my pH?your gh and ph need to go lower, that is kind of too much for a betta
but for livebearers that is A ok
