How cute are these little beggers

They are brothers - 8 weeks old :D

It broke my heart to put them out in their hutch tonight...

its all cold and wet and nasty :(

We're toilet training them too - so they poop in the littertray when in the house (well thats the plan!)

The saw and swrewdriver is coming out during the week to extend their hutch and build a run for them (we we're planning on one but ended up with 2 to keep eachother company)

they are going to have the coolest 'townhouse' style hutch and run ever!

They love chewing important paperwork too :D
we're moving house in march (when the house is finished) and we were doing some paperwork on the living room floor - they came and 'helped'

Love them already!

They're cool mate, little goovers

Keep us up to date with their training and stuff ;)

I saw somewhere on the web that you can get this cardboard castle thing for rabbits and that. Its massive, your rabbits would love that in your house ;)

At the moment they are in a hutch 4'x18"x18" (nice size for a tank :D) Tucked out of the wind and covered with a tarp to definatly keep the rain off them.

Over the next few days I'm going to build them a run and another hutch (with insulation) that will stack on top of eachother giving them more excersise going up and down.

They have spen the evening hopping and bouncing round the living room again (this will be the norm)

when we move they will probubly end up with a bunny bit in the shed :D

as for the training... Gizmo seems to know where he should be pooping and hops over to it... pickle however poops where he wants

After a fun evening....

they are ssoooo sweet but how dya tell them apart?
well... Their parents are show wabbits, and in order to show dutch wabbit, their lines have to be straight and at 90deg to their body...

Gizmo's 'join' runs at an angle across his back.
Pickle's join has a bump in it.

at the moment, at first glance its hard to tell (espacially from the front!) :S

EDIT: you can see pickle's bump in the 2nd piccy ;)

They're very precious and very trainable. Keeping them outside may give them an uneasy feeling and an untrusting nature. I understand that's the best you can do right now but you either want domesticated house rabbits...or outside hutch bunnies. I suppose you can have both but it just won't be the same. -_-

Keep in mind that loud thunder or rain,a barking dog,a stalking neighborhood cat,a loud idiotic neighbors muffler...any of these things can literally scare a rabbit to death.
Not to mention them freezing.

As for litter box training....don't get bored with it. It took months and months to litterbox train our house bunny. But it was worth it. Just be patient and whatever you do....please don't get tired of working with them

cheers wuv

I' intend to do the best i can for them as outside bunnies...

I put a bigger roof on their hutch today to keep the rain from the front of the hutch. the next step it the 2nd story that i intend to insulate for them. I was thinking of adding a heating pad under this 'layer' to provide a warm area for them in the winter (a good idea or will it cause them more problems rather than being good for them??)

then there will be a 2ft high run of about 8ftx4ft with an enclosed area under the hutch for shade and shelter.

the overall thing is going to be about 5ft high :D

the shed idea for our new house is an almost deffinate now :)

We used to breed and show dutch and mini-lops, they were all outside in hutches in WY, rabbits can withstand 40 below temperatures, so I wouldn't worry too much.

More recently, I had a bunny in my fishroom who was litter trained, but he did it on his own  I had a plastic container out there on the floor and he just started using it

They are just beautiful  I love dutch rabbits so much, they used to be pretty nasty, but I hear that lately they are becoming very sweet

fraid so... They are brothers and as males mature they fight...

we dont want them ripping each other apart and dont want them being agressive and fiesty.

they got their myx jabs tonight (30 mins ago) and were SO well behaved :)

2 weeks time and they will be getting their VHD jabs too.

then in a few months time its snip snip

the vet chacked them over tonight and all is well.
they are the same sex and he's quite sure they are male (its difficult to tell at their age).
