Got Me A Plate Coral

Thats some serious growth from what I've read :good: What and how often are you feeding them? This one is a krill hoover!

I hardly eer feed them now tbh with you and that is only coz they have grown quite big and i am struggling for room now on my sandbed and so dont want them growing any faster, but I used to feed them a few pieces of food mainly krill, brinshrimp or mysis every other day to every other day whilst feeding my fish and they soon grew!

As far as stinging goes I pick mine up when ever necessary and they hve never once stung me, what I do get however is a coat of slime on my fingers when i do handle them and can imagine this to be like there sting an could cause damage if i was to rub my eyes straight afte without washing my hands but so far i have never done that and dont fancy trying it any time soon ;)

Cool :good: cheers 1entra.

The 2 others you have, do you think they were already on the rock when you got it or do you think they're daughter colonies produced from the first?

TBH with you mate I havent got a clue, like I say i bought it as only being the one on the piece of rock and it was just over an inch accross and then about few month down the line I noticed there was another one on the back of the rock just under an inch accross and had grown buried under the sand which i found remarkable as I had placed the plate coral on the sand bed and had more or less buried the pice of rock it was attached to. Anyways several months later the bigger one detached itself from the LR and as I went to move it to another location I noticed there was a tiny 2rd one attached to the same piece of rock and was only about 5mm accross. I was well surprised and pleased saying I had only paid a fiver for the piece of rock with the 'mushroom' on it... :hyper:

spawny devil!
i paid £20 for mine last week and its tiny! (not 5mm tiny but pretty damn small all the same)
