surprised he hasn't hurt them yet :p HAPPY NEW YEAR Looks like a regular Royal blue veiltail...nice job..looks in good condition

thx, if you read one of my other posts in the betta section i explained the fry deal. he is friendly to them. probably lonly from bieng in a plastic cup for months in the lfs   :<

lol again  afishdude, my betta will kill and eat a live platy inch and 1/2 long...it depends on the betta..I guess his betta is ok...for now

if ya wondering, fry are out (because of alot of people complaining on how i treat 3 fry when i have a tank with literly hundreds of them + guppies)

Let's put that issue aside and quit taking shots at each other and hijacking the thread.

To answer your question, he's a royal blue veiltail with a black mask.

again louise  I didn't say that I feed them to it did I? No because I know my betta will, just because I do. And you know what fishdude, if your betta isn't harming them, SCREW WHAT PEOPLE SAY and put the fish back in. As long as the betta doesn't hurt them, he should befriend them and you save yourself putting them into a different tank. :) I SUPPORT AFISHDUDE AND THE WAY HE KEEPS HIS FISH :good:

You just know. You know ur betta will, just because u do? Well that's interesting...

Sorry, sorry, sorry. I just knew my bettas would hurt them and maybe kill them because of past experiences. No other fish were injured and all the fish were fine. Louise, sorry but I don't need you always picking at me in every thread I post about. So you can lay off. I raise fish the way I want and my fish are happy. I build bonds with all of my fish so much that they trust me and know when I feed them. Or know when it is time for a water change. Sometimes, they'll do tricks by themselves just to impress me and I reward them like all fishkeepers should. Trust me, when you put over $500 into 1 betta, your a true fishkeeper. And then ontop of that an additional $200 on other fish and other tanks. So don't say I dont' know how to keep fish. I research fish at least months before I buy them like all the members here should. I calculate everything and prepare everything so stress is limited upon arrival. I buy everything prior to buying the fish, even if it isn't necessary. I take all precautions and treat all my fish when injured, hungry or simply depressed. I know what your supposed to do and ontop of this, I'm being promoted in the job I work at (in fishkeeping) because of the excellent skills I show to other employees. I can sell a week's shipment of bettas in 2 days MAX. I tell people the dead truth, guide them into the right choices, and even get the odd "Can I have your number to contact you, if needed?" Don't be running your mouth like I am, saying I'm a disgrace and all. I may be 14 but I know what I'm talking about. Forums are mostly about true facts, but here and there, there and little threads where it's your own opinions, and ideas. This is one of them. You share past experiences to show other people ideas of situations that might occur. The one I posted about is one of them. In my situation, platies are no good with my bettas because they weren't raised together or simply are not supposed to coinside. Either way, your arguing with a 14 year old that's supposely "needs to grow up". I've done all the growing up I need. Raising fish isn't just a hobby to me, it's my life, and my future career. I want to be in the fields of marinebiology for a reason. I give it my best at being agood fishkeeper and if that's not up to your standards, that's fine by me.

Well my point was that you dont really have proof it seems. You cant expect them to kill them. You cant say they will with out proof.

But I agree with you. I am sorry, and I dont like it when people talk bad about my fish keeping too! I am thirteen!!!! I know how you feel! I have done tons and tons of research to get where I am today with fish keeping! So us "young people" should just ignore bad remarks cause we know that we are good fish keepers, and keep on going. You know how many mistakes I have made, well there are too many to count. Well just look at the pink gravel lol! We learn from our mistakes. Raising fish is my life too. Let's just forget all about this and let the topic go on like it origanally was. ^_^

your friend,
M.G.

Oh and afishdude, your fish looks awesome! Great job he looks healthy and happy! Good luck, bettas are a joy to keep! :D

afishdude...see if u could get a betterpic or 2 of your betta so that we can see his true colours :) Hopefully he's still doing good :) :good:

to add my two cents...

1. You can have proof, and experience, without being proud of it. The statement didn't come off to me like he was proud of it, just like it was something that had happened. Mistakes happen, and we learn from them and move on. I can say from experience that two males will not necessarily fight to the death when in a small enclosure, does that mean that I regularly fight my fish, or that I maintain the conditions that allowed them to do so in the first place? No.

2. afishdude, that's a nice looking fish you've got there, but he's a little fat -lol- Did you just feed him before you took the picture because if not you may want to watch him for any listlessness or signs of discomfort. If he overate, please keep an eye on him to be sure that he does not become constipated because I very recently had a fish die from that
