dolly _daydream, smithrc was talking about stellablu's fish when he said to keep the tropicals seperate from the gf. i have to agree that cory's and gf should never be mixed and that really goes for any small fish that the gf can get in its mouth.
I keep my Orandas and Moor at 76 degrees. I moved the goldfish into a larger tank and I thought I had removed all the fish, but a Cory had hidden himself in a cave escaping my eye, unfortunately for him. I am one of the people who prefer to keep their fancies in a bit of warmer water. I've never had a problem with them, their appetite is ravenous, and their colors are much more brilliant and shiny than the ones I used to keep in room temp. I guess it's a debate that will never be won
As for the clove oil, this is the fourth time I've used it. Three times for having to do dental work or removing something from the fish; once to put a fish down. There is a small difference in dosage that could put your fish to sleep permanently...but no using clove oil in VERY small dosages (2 drops to a medium sized bowl) will not kill your fish. However, if you're not familiar with it, don't use it. I know what I'm doing and I wouldn't want to be responsible for giving advice that might harm your fish if done incorrectly.
What kind of pills did your vet give you? Perhaps I can get some of those...because like I said, the Oranda took more drops and more time to settle down than even my adult puffers. I was getting nervous about using any more drops. I'd prefer to use a pre-measured dosage, like in the form of a tablet or pill. All the stress aside, he's doing peachy
