So I'm planning a 450gal oddball tank. :D Obviously, this is not going to be done for a few years, so it gives me plenty of time to plan it down to the last detail.

here's what i'm hoping to stock:
1 x Heterotis niloticus
A selection of bichirs and a group of reedfish
1 x xenomystus nigri
8 x elephant noses
10 x african butterfly fish (im guessing these will be left alone by the bichirs purely because bichirs on the bottom, ABFS on top)
A few synos.

Anyone see a problem with this stocking?
Im also looing for a largish mid-water fish, too? maybe a shoaling fish?

Cheers. :good:

I can see the african aro eating you abf to be honest. The other thing is 1 getting hold of an afro if you get them small there is an 80% chance they will die they are real hard to raise and very hard to feed they are filter feeders. If you manage to find a 8"+ one expect to pay £500+ for it. I also dont know how you elephant noses would get on with the aggression of the birchirs, aro and knife.

A set of silver dollars would suit the middle pretty good imo

cheers but im looking for african fish :D i think i forgot to say that lol.

Yeah, the aro is more an "extra" for if i can find one... i've kept a elephant nose and a bichir before and everything was fine. :D

Do you know of any other african fish that'll serve the place of the aro? lol

How about a group of 6 Paretroplus menarambo or Paretroplus maculatus very lovely colourful fish get to about 10".

erm because we're planning it?

you know what you do before you build it so there are no problems? We've already measured out where it's going and got a few quotes, and if we can get the money we might even start building it in a few months.

Twit.
