GGGGRRRRRRRR LFS made me so angry

yeah. we have 1 guy there who really knows his stuff. WHen i was getting my cories and shark he actually asked what size tank i had. He also asked if i had food for it bcuz a new tank wont have any "leftovers" for them to snack on". I was amazed. Usually the girl ther edoesnt ask anything. Last time i went she didnt let me get a pair of yellow labs in my 10. She also said that the rts would eat the rest of the fish. Normally i wouldnt buy these fish but they were each half an inch and the shark was 1 inch. She was just like no nope u cant get it they will eat all the 2 " danios and swordtails in yur tank and im like Yeah right. She also wouldnt let me get a 1" pictus cat. I was just lie im getting a 55 next week. Ok i'll just wait./ I come back and i look in the tank. i was like yes! i got lucky there is one left. I could see his whiskers under some bogwood. I ask her if iu could get one and she goes nope they get too big and she goes o theres some half grown ones over there and takes me over to the tank with 2 12" iridescent sharks in it. I go no i want a pictus. She says u cant get one there isnt one in there. I left and whenever i go back i make sure to ask the 1 guy who knows what hes talking about.

I found a great lfs on Ventura Blvd in Los Angeles. I watched as a father and son tried to buy some fish for their new tank they were buying just then. The sales guy told him about cycling and that he should get all set up and come back. The dad was really bitchy and wanted his fish now. He totally wouldn't listen. I walked away as the sales guy stood up to him and said, "look, I'm not going to sell you a $29 fish (i don't know what he was trying to buy) that is just going to die on you. That's not good business." He told him about cycling with smaller, hardier fish but he still wasn't going to give him fish on that trip.

I was really proud of him and decided that I would definitely be shopping there again, even their prices are markedly higher than the lfs who keeps selling me the wrong bulbs!

If i dont like the state of a new lfs or the advice they give me and others is dishonest and wrong i dont go back!

Find a lfs who cares about their fish and who knows their stuff and they will get to know u. like my two lfs's have got to know me. And oneday if u need any help, they wont hesitate to help.

One time i was moving house, and i couldnt just move the fish in one day, it was a week long "operation" so the lfs i always buy from, emptied one of their display tanks, and kept my fish and plants in it for a whole week with a not 4 sale sign on it! I was soo impressed!

Mr. Miagi...u know why??? because the lfs owner...has always wanted to learn a few karate moves to net a fish with his/her own bare hands...nm....just kidding... ;)

Great LFS u got there down in Adelaide

I don't see why fish are treated so much worse than other animals. I think it may be due to a lack of enough good fish keepers running the stores, working in the stores, or just generally :) I think I'm the only kid on long island that knows what a bichir is, and I know so much more than most shop keepers (Shouldn't be that way IMO) , but that's because most of those shop keepers only sell fish because people are willing to spend on them, and when they die, the people buy more. It starts an endless cycle of people buying and losing fish. Repeat. Then the store managers get more and more money every time  Then there are the good stores that try to find out what is wrong before selling the people more doomed fish, I like those stores
