Fishkeeping mistakes I made

One of my biggest mistakes was thinking that this was ok.

Thats how my aquarium looked when I first joined the forum😐
How does it look now.. 👀

Another rookie mistake. Always put the tank on something designed for and dedicated to that purpose and nothing else. If you have it on a table, desk, or dresser then anything else you are doing with it (like opening and closing drawers or putting something on the table) can stress the fish. Plus, it might not be designed to hold that kind of weight for a long period of time. And whatever material it's made of could become water damaged, possibly to the point of affecting its structural integrity.

Preach! Had a 20 gallon on a desk that was clearly not meant to hold that much weight because it was literally bowing. Started off fine but a couple weeks later it was very hard to miss. Plus, LOTS of water damage.

Now the desk has a 5 gallon betta tank on it lol and it’s doing fine
