Gah . . . ended up buying more bottom feeders

Today, one of the LFs had new stock from some of the local breeders. Shocking!!!

I found:

TRUE Siamese Algae Eaters

AND

TRUE Corydoras Julii

!!!

I examined very carefully, and finally decided both were the real deals!!

First the Julii, feature the distinct spots and rounder tails they're supposed to have!! Thus, they're NOT c. triliniatus! (95% of fish sold as c. julii are actually c. triliniatus)

I bought a pair; I figured they'd school with my 4 triliniatus. The two species ARE similiar enough that I doubt the cories can tell. In deed, the trilis soon adopted the juliis as they're own. Here's a photo of a julii swimming with trili, you can see the marked difference in pattern. Trili's are darker because they've spend more time in that tank with black substrate.

Here's a photo of the pair of True SAE.

True SAE are almost NEVER found in LFs. Most fish sold as "Siamese Algae Eater" are a different fish altogether.

Check List:
--No Yellow/Red on body or fins
--black stripe extends onto tail
--Only 1 pair of very small barbels
--No light colored stripe above the dark stripe

YUP!! These are the real deal!! Plus, the store actually labelled them as siamensis. That helps.

Love the julii I have the trilineatus and there is a definite difference! My lfs sells them as agasizzii

My LFs recently brought in c. adolfoi too; today's my B-Day so my sister said she'd buy me a pair!! Adolfois are the ones with no stripes and a bright orange stripe on the back. I've only seen them in shop one time before.

Yeah, looking at the pics they don't really look alike! I could see mistaking them for julii, but not agasizzii! I just kinda said OK and went on my way.

They haven't ever had sterbai or adolfoi or some of the others I'd like to see though
