Hybrid and died fish.....a list of fish!!

i really really hate this stuff.

people would ***** like crazy if dogs were bred to have no hind legs, or kittens were injected with dye. but to some people fish just don't matter, so let's dye them and breed them to have no tails

Hey cichlid addict......you know I think you're right. I really would like to have a cichlid tank someday, but I would have NO idea where to begin. I have only somewhat mastered ( ) the community tank thing. Red Oscars, or Oscars, really interest me but I know I couldn't feed them feeder fish........... I don't have that in me :p And I know they need to eat live fish, right? The Blood Parrot does have more personality and is more fun to keep then ANY fish I've ever kept, besides Angels, which are still cichlids. So maybe cichlids are for me............???

Maybe someday after I learn a lot more  :fun:

Hybridisation and breeding for so called 'attractive' traits of other pets has been going on for decades.

60% of Bulldog puppies are destroyed at birth as they cannot breath due to selective breeding to create a flat face.

Here's the ancestral wolf skull.. millions of years of evolution to produce a perfect carnivore.

And here's what humans have done to it... a bulldog skull

50% of dalmation puppies are killed at birth because they have no spots and are therefore 'worthless'

The selective breeding for cats with thumbs.. making the cat look like it has little human hands... has produced a mutation called a Twisty Cat.. it has no bones in it's forearms.

Persian kittens often die shortly after birth because in-breeding causes them to have no upper jaw.

Puppies' tails are cut off because a short tail 'looks better'

Cats are declawed because it's 'inconvienant'

Kittens are indeed dyed all sorts of colours.

The Sphinx cat has been bred to be hairless.

The RagDoll cat has been bred to have no sense of self preservation. (!)

And that's just cats & dogs, I haven't even started on birds, pigs, cows & horses....

I could go on for ever....

Thank you Sir Minion for adding that.

That skull looks horrid.

About the dalmations, I know from exerience that pups aren't born with any spots, they get them later!

And the ones that don't get spots, get culled or sold to research labs.

If you could find an internet article about that it would be great to post the link at the bottom of your above post!!

Ok, I couldn't find anything specific about dalmations but it seems that the culling of white puppies is widespread across many breeds, with the worst of it happening with Boxers

They cull them to remove undesirable genes, such as occasional deafness which come about from inbreeding.

here's an example.

And here is a site about Twisty cats

..However.. we're getting off topic now.. my bad.
