Another one of my fry died. i came back from somewere 2 days ago and i opened the light seeing it died eyeless and the skin the colour of cod on the gravel. im wondering but is it bad to leave them in the dark because one of my other fry i found dead when i came back from somewere and opened the lights :rip:

Are they in their own tank or a breeders net/box?

How big is the tank?

Is the tank that they are in fully cycled?

How old are the fry?

What type of fry are they?

1) They are in the main tank
2) 28L
3) yes
4) About 4 months old. i have one in the hatchery which is 11 days old
5) guppy fry

Thanks

So the fry are in the main tank with the other fish, may I ask what other fish you have? :)
Also how long has the tank been set up?
Can you test the water for Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia and pH?
How often do you do water changes and how much do you change?

Sorry about all of the questions, I'll try and help you as best I can! :)

No worries you are helping out with questions :good:

1)2 glowlights, neon tetras and 2 male and 1 female guppy (with 2 amano shrimp)
2)its been set up since about February
3)Will need to get up to date but last time ammonia and nitrite were 0ppm and nitrate 10ppm and PH a little other 7.6
4)About once a fortnight

Hmmm your stats are fine, so no worries there... Although it is generally recommended to do weekly water changes, but I don't think it's causing these deaths :/

Have the fry been born in the tank and you have just left them to see if they survive, or have you caught the fry, grown them up a bit and then put them back into the tank with the adults when they were big enough to not be eaten?

How big are the fry?

How many fry are there?

When you see the dead fry, do they look like something has tried to eat them, chased them or have they got any chunks out of them (Not nice, I know...)

Have you checked your fish for anything like fungus, white spots, etc.

Are the fry acting strangely before they die? are they lethargic or anything?

1) when the fry were first born i put them in a bowl then about 4 weeks later i got a hatchery so they went in the main tank

2) the fry look about 3cm (bigger or about the size of my neon tetras)

3) 3 now before i had 6

4) not really but when that fry died the stomach was opened up and its tail was gone and the fry which died before that was sort of dead but had these red things coming out the tail and chin

5) havent seen any problems

6) no they are healthy but be dead when i go out somewere and i leave them in the dark

the tail missing and no eyes could be big fish picking on them. the stomach open and red stuff may be fungus or disease. have you kept fry before or is this your first time? When I had my first batch I started with fifteen and ended with seven. sometimes things happen. I kepp my fry speperated in a 1.5 gallon until they are at least half the size of my lagrest fish in the main tank.

That red stuff happened once to one of the deaths and yes they do look chunked up but that could be because they were in the tank for a period of time. this is my first time by the way

Would say that :good: the biggest fry is a female and is about the size of its mother now and i saw today one of my adult males showing off to it

I wouldn't call them fry if they are 3cm! :D

What about teens :D

Also the guppy fry in the hatchery doesnt look so temted to eat so is there anything i could do? it is eating but i do worry if it is because there does be some leftover food but that could be that i over feed abit

Ok, what are you feeding them?
