I just have a quick question about fry coloring. I know that their true coloring can't be determined untill they're a few weeks old. I believe I read somewhere that you can tell if they will be darker or not, due to a line thru their eye?
My little ones are only a few days old now, but I've noticed that some of then have a "V" shape along their backs, while others don't. I was just curious if this meant anything? I noticed the lines, while watching them eat thru a magnifying glass. (The eating, btw, has to be the most adorable thing ever, to see them lunge and eat!)
Thanks!

Congrats on your fry!

Mine are 2 weeks old since yesterday. I'm not sure how you can determine the colour at that young an age, but I know what you're talking about when you mention the "V" shape.

I've been looking @ mine with a magnifying glass too when I feed them microworms. I love to watch them eat!

Thanks.

Hehe, thanks! And congrats on yours, too!

I know what you mean - I'm obsessed with watching them. I love watching them dart around, and eat. I'm gladto know they ARE eating - that makes me happy :) They're going to be such exhibitionists - I'm ALWAYS watching :p I SWEAR I can see red on some of them already. Maybe just wishful thinking, tho, since their parents are red & turqoiuse.

:)

If you breed anything with red, you'll get some level of red wash. How old are your fry?

Welcome to the board, BTW!

Hi and thanks!

They're about a week old (not sure if they hatched Monday or Tuesdat :/) I doubt their coloring would be obvious THIS early, I'm probably just seeing things, lol. One grandparent was red, the other was yellow. Would their be any chance of a yellow popping up? There are several with "red" color (the ones with the "V" on their backs, while others are just colorless, minus the huge eyes. I'm surprised at how quickly their growing - much easier to spot now :)
