I can see were you guys are coming from, however I don't see how this is going to cause any harm. I could see if he released them into a lake or some body of water that feeds into other bodys of water. But rememeber this is a pond in a golf course theres no fish in there the water isn't going anywere, meaning the fish isn't going to go anywere. And one person said what if the insects and frogs go some were else, who cares whats this going to hurt, nothing that what. IMO what he didn't wasn't so bad, if it was in a lake or something that feeds into another water then yes thats bad, but rememeber this is a pond in a golf course made for looks and golf balls to land in. What would you rather him do keep them in a tank to small or a kill them. He had the fishes intrest in mind and what he did was good IMO.

Oh jeeeeeez

So, you dont see why theres a problem, the OP doesnt see either... and apparenty nor do any of the people he knows.

Ok, HIS three fish may not cause a problem, but theres how many more people with how many more fish that when added WILL cause a problem?

There is a bloody good reason that this type of thing is illegal, ignoring these laws because 'you dont see why' is what gets keeping certain species banned in various states and countries.

I know a place here in the uk where people release koi and goldfish. Fortunately that IS a body of water that does not have any outlet other than evaporation, its a stone quarry that hit a spring and flooded, water comes in via the springs and rain and run off, water goes out via evaporation, fish in there can go nowhere. I suspect having swum that particular quarry very frequently, im right in thinking therei s now NOTHING in there except koi and goldfish because these fish eat everything in sight (and boy you have never seen fish as big as these guys!).

Dumping fish is moronic, dumping fish in purpose built lakes is even more so - you think they have NO way of draining that thing? Of course they do or how do they clean it, how dot hey prevent it getting blooms of blue-green algae, how do they clean up the crap people dump in there the golf balls people loose..... they drain it, adn where will it drain buddy? Its gonna drain into a natural watercourse eventually, either directly or via a secondary drain line.

When you cant keep Shovelnose Cats in texas, we'all all know who to thank for that!

The fish could spread disease to said frogs which then can spread them to adjacent ponds or lakes. It isn't as simple as you're thinking.

Ok Ok you guys make since I was just trying to stick up for him, but you guys bring up some good points. So yes dumb move. Get the scuba gear out got some fish to catch.

Don't worry they'll die anyway, they are captive kept animals, when you keep animals captive long enough the lose the ability to hunt and take care of themselves.

You also said nothing else was in the pond, so I assume they don't have a good food source either.

won't they already be dead? they've been realeased from a warm filtered treated tank to a cold stagnant probably diseased pond... hope the park warden finds them before anyones cat does...euch..

No, they will not die, you would be surprised what a fish can do. It's warm in Texas all year round btw.

Well, you people clearly arent going to change heh, and I have no prob with that, I purely wanted to wittness yalls reaction to see just how nutty it was, and boy leme tell you, I am not dissapointed lawl...

Anyways I can assure you that anymore fish that I feel require re-homing ill make sure to put in that exact pond on the 3rd hole on the golf course. I hope yall wont call the authorities as I wouldnt want a long jail sentence for plopping a fish in a golfcourse pond... Lord knows how many endangered species my fish will decimate in those dern golfcourse ponds................................

The problem is, that manmade golfcourse pond that right now has no connection to other waterways probably won't stay that way.

You live in Texas. Many parts of Texas flood BADLY. (I was born and raised there and lived through more than my share of hurricanes and floods.)

When you have a manmade pond at sea level, and a natural lake a half a mile away at sea level, all it takes is a few inches of floodwaters to connect those two bodies of water, albeit temporarily. During a flood phase, that fish that was released could quite easily swim out of its original artificial pond, across a flooded area that is normally dry land, into the natural pond, and once the waters receed, the fish is now stuck in the natural pond (which might be connected to a bayou, creek, or stream which might connect to somewhere else). So no, your fish probably won't do much damage in an artificial pond, but there's no for-sure guarantee it'll stay there.

There are none so blind as those who will not see....

Or

Stupid is as Stupid does...

I think both fit here.

Stupidity, obviously. Dash of ignorance... didnt realise theyd grow to big for his tank, well hes not the first to commit that crime...... to dumb to realise its illegal for good reason..... too idle to find them a decent legal home..... bored of them?

Which of these reasons fit Zagggon?

i agree that it was bad for the fish, going from a nice filtered, heated, clean tank to a golf course pond.
but i mean, they could have done worse, like just flushing the poor guys, at least this person was trying to look out for the fish., even if they did make a bad decision where to free them.
there was no reason to blow up on them, i think its amazing how brave people are behind a keyboard.
