A 3rd one for you
i could swear it's pure imbellis itty ;) the irridesence on the gill covers leads me to believe. with my copper, the gills have no irridesence, mine is definately splendens cross (if that), but yours are the real thing, beautiful. ;)

Here is my 3rd female, Jewel. I'm not sure if she is strictly splendens or maybe a crossbreed of something else. Could someone please verify?
wow, lovely girl  you could be on to something with your cross theory itty ;)

I'm surprised these came out clear. But it took like a billion shots :)
let's match em up, your copper :sly: vs my copper :grr: , no holds barred, no time limit..

Joke by the way, (all those that are gonna freak)..we wouldn't do that, life is too precious... right itty? ;)

Actually, my fighters are used as sparring partners for someone else's bettas I know who goes to Betta Arena matches. I'm not sure about the coppers, though. They are kind of small, but the guy who goes to the arenas said he matched a copper with the same-sized splendens and the splendens backed down and ran after a few minutes. Sure, why not have a 30 sec. match? Did you know fighting style is passed on through generations?

yah, there is one pinoy guy in my betta association group who ordered a couple of "5 star" fighters from some website. he keeps asking me to hook him up with the guys from laos who go across the border to seattle on a regular basis to fight their fish. he's kind of funny, whenever the association gets together he always calls me over to the side, makes sure no one is around and in a hushed voice wants to discuss "fighter culture". i've never fought my fish but a couple of months ago i witnessed a couple of my juvenile plakats get into a little blow-out in the grow out tank. it was pretty amazing to watch the two styles (even though they were brothers they went at it in different ways). at first i was going to break it up right away but curiousity got the better of me. it only lasted about 10 minutes until one gave up and swam away. they kind of took over the whole tank for a while, all the other guys in the tank just gave them room to go at it (maybe some tension had been brewing between the two...). anyways, that fight was a good sign to seperate and jar em up ;)

I just HAVE to see the picture of the winner of that scuffle!

I am so glad you got a camera Itty....your bettas and pictures are amazing.....

just wait ;) i'm working on getting a new digital camera in the near future. i've posted some pics of those plakats before, they are all doing very well. i was excited to find that two of them turned out "perfect". the majority of them ended up with substantial red wash in fins (not really a fault unless they are show fish but..) except for two of em. no red wash , just beautiful blue finnage. those guys are keepers for sure. i've actually gotten rid of some of that spawn already to a few friends at work ;) the next project is "mongkut" my double ray crowntail to his girlfriend, a crowntail female, just a bit more conditioning and they will be ready to mate. ;)

Thanx. You know I was dying everytime I see people post pictures of their stuff. BTW, did you ever have to deal with cloudy tanks and stuff?

I hate to butt in...but,but...itty ya gotta send me some bettas from that shop!!!! Puhleeeeze! Several customers at my lfs buy the short tails for said reasons but they're nothing like these....not even close! Your's are unbelievable

bkk~ omg, my plakats are fighting like crazy! I know they're not nearly as pure 'plakat' as yours (they're candy coated plakats  ) but...sheeesh! "Break it up" is exactly right! I watch 3 or 4 go at it at a time and they show no mercy, they love it

those fighters are plakats right :X

.. that was a lot of quoting lol..

my plakat managed to get across the divider into one of my lil orange buddies and ripped off 3/4 of his tail.. the plakat had a few holes, but healed in about a week.. the other male still missing 1/3 of his tail.. them plakats are psychos no wonder they like to fight...

as for the fish fighting... thats crazy... do they fight to the death or what?

Usually it's the Thai fighters that will fight to the death. They are the fastest of the 3 types. The other two types are Vietnamese (powerful bite) and Malay (scales of armor but very slow).

Muay, my first Thai fighter.
