First point I want to make JUAN is that I dont concider you" being rude or ignorant".You are just doing the same thing I am doing which is tell it how you see it.We may not agree, but I respect your point of view.
Now,about "being the devils advocate" and "this being an entirely black or white issue. There is no grey here"Sorry.I may dislike the people who created them or the reason why($$$)But I am not going to hate the fish.Or the people who buy them and find them "cute"
Another thing,If we hate them so much,or think its morally wrong to create them, what are we doing about it?Are we writing our congressman or any organization that might stop these animals from crossing the borders? And I dont mean this in a bad way.I just think that people that feel so strongly on this issue should use all that energy and do something about it,not just argue with some one that disagrees with you.

SMB..."you wouldnt argue so much if you agreed with us".......and"its hard to debate someone when they dont have a stance and are all over the place and agree with everything but then...they dont".I dont concider this forum a place to debate I just tell my opinions and how I see this particular issue.Just because I may agree on some issues,it doesnt mean I agree 100% with you.I have to see it from all angles, and if in the eyes of some I happen to be standing on a "grey area" rather than a black or white...So be it.I wouldnt like it other way.

I don't see anybody here asking you to take up the cause of banning these fish and I really don't see anybody saying that you as a hobbist have to hate these fish. what I do see is that there are a bunch of people that do dislike these fish, and don't personally like these fish me included. but there is a difference, these people have all said in precise words yes they like them or no they don't.

Ok I've only just started reading this so i'll apologise if I repeat anything previously said, just thought I'd add my views.

Selective breeding has been around for centuries in most cases of animals (Until vanity kicked in) people mixed and matched to create a breed/strain that would benefit them in other words to suit a purpose. With fish that purpose has been to be visually pleasing or unusual. Now there are exceptions to every rule.

I'm not against selective breeding UNLESS it effects the creatures quality of life.

okay lithril!!! I am not against selective breeding for traits withing a species. it is the cross breeding and hybirdization that I am against.

Exactly.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I'm not against what others want to keep but the dyed fish, fish bred without fins and the blood parrots are frankensteins that serve no use and are harmful to the fish themselves in the selective process. Flowerhorns, imo, are a hybrid but at least they aren't mauled by the selection process and if you want to keep them, then great, but then you should but keep them out of the stores. If we can't tell the dif between a tri and fh as a fry...that's when it gets dangerous for the future of the bloodlines. It's bad enought that we can't buy a pure Amphilophus citrinellum, Aequidens rivulatus and a Amphilophus labiatus in any fish stores as it is. It will only get worse, imo.

BTW, nice guapote av, juan.
