Whether you dose 2 hours or 10minutes before lights on is upto you really, doesnt really matter.Just bare in mind carbon will only stay in your water colume for 12 hours so dont dose too early before lights on.The trick is to make sure the carbon is in your water every minute your lights are on:)
Really appreciate all the advice, thank you.

No problem

That was useful for me too, thanks! I've dosed ferts for a while now but I've got some Neutro CO2 ordered from Aqua Essentials, should be here tomorrow or Wednesday :)

Your mixing your own ferts right? Are you making and dosing trace elements only or are you also making and dosing macros? (N, P+K)

Yeah, I'm dosing other things along with trace elements. I can't remember what the mix is off the top of my head but I have it written down somewhere. I need to mix some more later so I can tell you then, when I've found it :p

Yeah thats the stuff. These are macro ferts which is definately needed when using carbon or co2:)

The formula I use is..

4tsp Potassium Nitrate
1tsp Potassium Phosphate
6tsp Magnesium Sulphate
2tsp Chelated Trace Elements
500ml Water

Dosing 5ml per 50ltr daily for carbon but 10ml per 50ltr for co2.
At the moment im using carbon

I dont bother with potassium sorbate and ascorbic acid.
Reasons being is that there is enough potassium in potassium nitrate and potassium phosphate so there really is no need to add extra with potassium sorbate. Although it wont hurt adding extra.
And I dont add ascorbic acid because this is like a preservative that kinda keeps the ferts fresh, I go through my ferts way to fast to worry about my ferts going bad lol

I didn't and still don't know much about it so I just bought everything on the list :p

I do know it's cheap and works though :D

Its thee most cost effective way of dosing ferts. My kit cost me around £15 and lasts at least a year.
Give me one off the shelf fert product thats is that cost effective?
There isnt. And what people dont realise is all these named brands like neutro and tnp is exactly the same as what we have just pre mixed and 100x more expensive lol.
No brainer really. But people like there brands.

I've just had to mix some more :)

You're missing the point of them - I'd reconsider

Lol what point is that? I have experimented with adding additional Potassium but didnt see any extra benefits. I dont have any deficiencies so I really dont think I need it and Iv been dosing without them now for 2 years with no issues:)
