Thought I'd post some pics of my tank inhabitants as not all that long ago I had a fairly torturous fishless cycle and I thought it may offer some encouragement to those currently mid cycle. If I can do it and go on to this then so can everyone of you !

Don't give up no matter how many twists and turns your cycle gives you sooner or later (much later in my case ) you will get those double 0 and fly through your qualifying week and trust me it sure is worth it in the end. I've even converted the fiancee who now has a 155L guppie tank :good:

Are those Dojo Loaches? If so what temp do you keep the tank at? Very nice fish by the way.

that tank looks awesome, are you using co2 for your plants, and i see a huge snail infestation, was that on purpose, or did you want the snails, do they have any practicle purpose? like turning over the sand maybe?

I dont use C02 at all I do try and remember and add easycarbo (liquid carbon) and TPN+ Ferts but im lucky if I remember 3 times a week lol

The snails oh god the snails ! The population seems to ebb and flow sometimes theres loads (like now) other times a lot less truth be told i'm just to lazy to do anything about them  Although I have spotted the keyholes killing and eating a few :good:

I probably should look into assasin snails or some other non chemical based approach.

You can go for assassin snails, but then you'll have those breeding in your tank..

Aside from that, you're left with the only real option, which is what i'm currently going through.

As soon as you turn your tank light on, you should see most of them on the glass... hands in and *squish*
You'll have some free fish food for the day!
Unfortunately this is a very long process, i'm about a month in and have probably reduced the population by 75%, they increased massively as I was slightly overfeeding, and they were having a good munch on my watersprite (they love it :S)...
Squishing snails is not for the faint of heart, they actually explode into a little cloud of blood, I feel bad for doing it, but tis the only way.

Tried the whole *cucumber on a plate* thing, but it completely failed.

Great pics though :good:

That is a really nice tank FW and some fantastic pictures thanks for sharing them with us :good:

Very nice pictures you have of your fish FishieWishie. They all seem to be in good condition and thriving.
Have a bit closer look at your first picture. Around here they would call that a green cory or maybe an armored cat. Usually the name of peppered is used for C. paleatus which is a completely different species to the C. aeneus you have in your picture. It is one of the many pitfalls of using a common name instead of a scientific name. Things are called by different "common names" depending more on where you are than on the real species of fish.
