lol, have a christmas party and ask for a hand lol
Could end badly  a bunch of drunk people moving an expensive tank. Could work if you make a pretend Christmas party make them move the tank then say, there's no party, though I doubt they'd like you for it.
you guys read my mind im having loads of people round on xmas eve so im thinking move the tank before we all start getting drunk :) but i kinda wanted it moved before that but oh well it will do

are you going to dry line the walls plaster board i would and make a sweet looking room out of it

put a false ceiling in with some spot lights job done

oops i forgot the sofa :D
yep i will be decorating it but im filling up the tank first and decorating around it.i really need to set it up fast my fish are growing so fast the 100g looks cramped.i have had to take out all the bogwood to make more room for the big female.
of course a sofa is a must ;)

oops i forgot the sofa :D
And the fridge, and TV.

Neal
a fridge freezer will definately be going in i need somewhere for my beer to go :)
atm i have a shelf in our kitchen freezer to keep all the fish food in and the other half hates it so that will shut her up
i will be to busy enjoying the tank to watch tv

ive got a electrician mate coming to put some extra power points in next weekend so the tank is still empty :/
this is what i have left to get before im ready...
1 x pro 3 thermofilter(will this be enough to heat 280gallons?)
1 x 7ft x 2ft plain background
fine gravel substrate

You must be itching to get it filled mate!

When i got my N&D tank I had it filled 3 days after it arrived, as the silicone still had to set. Does it still have the vinegar smell to it? ;)

Can't wait to see it set up though, you going to be getting any more fish to go in it?

you just reminded me of something else i need lighting, what did you use on your n&d tank?was it easy to put on?
it does still smell of vinegar yeah
i will be getting 1 more female motoro and a zebra shovelnose and either some peacock bass or siamese tigerfish

Pbass would be great, I haven't seen a decent Pbass tank from this side of the pond, but on a lot of US forums they've got some great cichla setups.

The lighting was a walk in the park, but it's hardly professional. I just have the ballast on top, with each end going through the holes. It's a single arcadia tube but you'll probably need more for your tank.

your right about the p bass set ups being quite rare over here CFC is the only person i know on here who has them,i think he has only got the one but im not sure.they are very popular on other us forums as you said.i think they look great in groups.
my lighting isnt gonna be anything special its not like im going planted or anything as long as i can see the fish im happy.

Yeah, I agree with light. Unless you're planting, enough to see the fish is enough for me.

Dan @ tropical imports has a few Pbass in from time to time if I remember rightly. They do look great in groups, I agree, they're one of the big cichlids I'm tempted by.

people have recommended dan to me to get my zebra shovelnose off but posting such expensive fish is quite worrying.have you used him for fish before?i have heard nothing but good things about him.do you get refunded if its doa?

I have 4 p bass, 2 monoculus in the big tank and a couple of small temensis growing out in a 40.

Dan is very good, ive had a few bits and pieces off him and everything has turned up alive and healthy

have you got any decent links so i can do some research on them?i cant seem to find much at all.
some pics of yours would be cool too :good: are they slow growers?

Theres loads of pictures on the forum already, just run a search for all pictures posted by CFC in the pictures section and have a look through them.

Theres not much on the internet about keeping them, most sites are about sport fishing for them in Florida and the Amazon, what information there is available can be found on forums like this one and the more predatory specialist sites.

Growth is fairly steady, p bass are normally bought at around 3" and will be 12" within a year with regular feeding and water changes. The trouble is that when they are small p bass are very sensative and need feeding 3 to 6 times a day otherwise they just keel over and die, i had terrible trouble with the first 4 p bass i had as i just wasnt around enough to feed them enough, i was lucky enough to find some bigger ones eventually although they were a bit of a state health wise they were already past their flakey stage. When i got the temensis Paul MTS was kind enough to keep them and feed them up for me for a while until they had a bit of bulk on them and could take having a bit less food.

the tank has finally been moved into position
i am filling it up tomorrow
