My current tank holds a ph of 7.7ph, which is the same as that which comes from the tap. I have plenty of room for some more small fish or a few medium sized (See siggy for tank size and contents) and wondered if there are any particular fish that are happier with that slight elevated ph and those that will dislike it. Also one that will live hapily with the current residents. One of which (Brutus, our largest tetra and growing at speed!) has a tendancy to nip. mAlthough my children like the guppies I'm concerned he'll nip their fins and tails. Any suggestions/guidance would be great thanks. :)
I should add I'm in no hurry just yet as the filter is still somewhat immature and shan't get them until it has settled down entirely.
Hugs,
P.

Almost everything you buy at your lfs will also come from a very similar PH and 7.7 is absolutely fine. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Ps: some people might find it quite hard to read red text.....

:*) Oh I'm sorry. I have a tendancy to use red type on all the forums I frequent, except on one where I have to use cyan. Modmin rule. Bygones. This better?
Is there any fish that is a little bigger then my current inhabitants that will be happy to be house in that size tank?
Hugs,
P.

:) it's certainly easier on my eyes, though I generally don't have too much trouble reading red text on a light background. But I know many people do.

Anyway, what about some mollies or sword tails ? Or some Bleeding heart tetras ?

Very useful item that convertor. :D Do you normally go by US gallons or imperial? There seems to be a fair difference in them.
I may have a mature tank coming my way very soon of a much larger 39 IG or 47USG (180litres). It already has three residents in the shape of a red tailed sharkand two tiger barbs. All around two years of age. Although I suspect they'll be able to tell me their diets etc I thought that such species didn't generally get on? :dunno:
I'm also concerned about transporting them. They are within 5 miles of me but even so it's going to be a real trial for all concerned. Any suggestions?
Hugs,
P.

Just be a tad careful with Tiger Barbs - they usually need a large school to prevent and contain aggression. They are real little fin nippers and I wouldn't comfortably put them with anything smaller than themselves (i.e. neons!)

I wouldn't remove from their current tank (except to transport obviously) and maybe, if the shark is not too large get them some more tank mates. If the shark is a fair size I may consider letting a local reputable fish store taking him in. Or alternatively keep the shark and remove the barbs! I don't know anything about either breeds so naturally I'm a bit concerned about taking them on or adding any other fish to their enviroment. I'm happy with the little tank and the little fish in it and firmly believe larger breeds need plenty of space. I shall be doing some serious swotting over the next few days! ANyone know some recommended sites for these breeds? I shall google in any case but any and all help is always greatfully recieved.
Thank you muchly bloozoo. *hugs*
