I have some tinfoil barbs

was watching them today, and there was a long stream of small bubbles coming out from the rear of
one of them... so my question is do fish fart?

Cories most definitely expel gas.
Whether it's waste "air" from them taking in surface air or whether it's the by-product of their food I have no idea!

yep, cories definitely fart...mine fart like crazy! cories have adapted to swallow air, and they can absorb it in their intestines, they do this because in their natural habitat the water is normally muddy and polluted. sometimes they will expel the air through their rectum instead of absorbing it...i would say it is quite possible your fish is farting

cool.. thanks for clearing this up for me. i have kept fish for a good number of years, and this is the first time i seen it....

i was wanting to know why they asked for a lighter

Dojo loaches do it too... My dojos will go grab some air at the surface and the expel it randomly while they are swimming on the bottom.
